    Abstract: A terminator cap and system for using the terminator cap is provided for protecting a standard coaxial cable port from atmospheric conditions and from unwarranted tampering. The cap is a hollow cylinder with one enclosed end. The terminator cap is dimensioned to slip over one end of a connection jack connector, the other end of which has a plurality of attachment fingers dimensioned to fit over the connection jack. The swagging shell is used to firmly hold the terminator cap to the connection jack connector and firmly hold the flared fingers of the connection jack connector to the connection jack. A locking shroud is attached to the connection jack such that the locking shroud surrounds the connection jack, the connection jack connector, the terminator cap and the swagging shell.

    Abstract: A feedthrough coaxial cable connector includes a tubular mandrel body dimensioned to be pressed between a foil-bonded dielectric core and other elements of an outer conductor of the prepared end of the cable. The body has cable engagement surface which defines a knife edge projection therearound for engaging an outer conductor of the cable by creating shear stresses therein without actually shearing the outer conductor. A tubular shank portion extends from the cable engagement surface portion to a radial wall portion, and a jack engagement portion is coaxial about the exposed central conductor. The jack engagement portion achieves a tight friction fit upon a jack and may be formed as an inside compression collet. A radial compression providing structure causes an inside surface region of the outer conductor to bear directly against and bend over the knife edge portion.

    Abstract: A method and a device is provided which allows the connection of coaxial cable termini to one another with minimum long-term loss of RFI shielding. The method comprises the removal of metal oxides from the concentric conductor portions of the two cable termini, applying a sealant to the concentric conductor termini and then connecting the central conductor termini to one another and the concentric conductor termini to one another. The device comprises a collet structure dimensioned to slip over the outside of a standard connection jack. Within the collet structure is disposed a quantity of sealant and the collet structure has at least one aperture through which sealant oozes from the collet structure to the exterior of the collet structure. When the collet structure is attached to the jack, the sealant is caused to ooze onto the concentric conductor thereby sealing the concentric conductor from the ambient.

    Abstract: A switching device for electrically activating and deactivating a coaxial cable junction between a coaxial cable terminus and a connection jack, where both the terminus and connection jack have external and internal conductors, is disclosed. The switching device comprises an electrically conductive housing having a first end adapted to be physically connected to the external terminus conductor, and a second end adapted to be physically connected to the external connection jack conductor. An interior member disposed within the housing, has a first end adapted to be electrically connected to the internal terminus conductor, and a second end adapted to be electrically connected to the internal connection jack conductor. A first electrically conductive path lies between the first and second end of the interior member, and a switch is disposed within this conductive path.

    Abstract: A device is provided for firmly attaching a plurality of coaxial cable terminus to a plurality of standard connection jacks in such a way that each connection point is effectively shielded from tampering by individuals and is effectively sealed from degrading elements in the atmosphere. The device is a locking shroud which defines a plurality of locking shroud chambers, each being adapted to attach to a respective connection jack so as to surround the connection of a cable terminus to the jack. Each locking shroud chamber is attached to one other locking shroud chamber by a flexible web disposed in a curved plane. Because of the flexible webs, the locking shroud can be easily adjusted to fit any standard coaxial cable multiple connection equipment. The use of the locking shroud of the invention makes it difficult to de-attach and/or re-attach the cable terminus to the jack without special tooling.

The system includes a jack attachment member having a collet structure, a swagging shell which slips over the collet structure to accomplish a firm connection with the jack and a locking shroud which surrounds the swagging cylinder so as to make it difficult to de-attach and/or re-attach the cable terminus to the jack without special tooling. Such special tooling, however, is simple and inexpensive for authorized service technicians, thereby making the system at once relatively secure from tampering and atmospheric degradation and simple and inexpensive to install and maintain. Furthermore, the system can be retrofitted into existing coaxial cable equipment, using standard coaxial cable connection jacks.

    Abstract: The invention describes a method of preparing a cable, a coaxial cable mandrel guide/spacer, and a plurality of coaxial cables capable of accepting flexible coaxial cable without the requirement or folding back the conductive shielding braid material to form a connection to the cable. The guide/spacer is also useful with other nonbraided type connectors to avoid the need for a multilevel stripping of the coaxial cable. Avoiding the need for braid rollback eliminates a potential leak path and creates an improved sealed connector.

The use of the locking shroud further makes it difficult to break off the locking shroud by twisting the shroud, such as with a pair of pliers. The device can be used to make coaxial cable connections secure from tampering and atmospheric degradation. It is simple and inexpensive to install and maintain.
