Patent number: 7731042Abstract: A closure is provided for a container opening. The closure includes a body for mounting to the container and a lid movable between a closed position and an open position. The lid and body are connected by a bistable, snap-action hinge structure having a web between two hinges. Stress-relief recesses are provided at an end edge of either the body hinge or the lid hinge or both.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2005Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Assignee: Seaquist Closures Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Cori M. Blomdahl, Stacy L. Beilke

Patent number: 7658295Abstract: A closure system is provided for a container. The system has a body for extending from the container at the container opening. The body defines a dispensing orifice. A lid is provided for covering the orifice. The body has a bearing member with two spaced-apart walls for defining a channel for receiving a pivot shaft on the lid. At least one deflectable finger projects from one of the body bearing member walls for being temporarily, elastically deflected to accommodate the insertion of the lid pivot shaft into the channel. The finger is resilient, and moves back over the lid pivot shaft to prevent removal of the lid pivot shaft from the channel.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2005Date of Patent: February 9, 2010Assignee: Seaquist Closure Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Travis J. Hoepner, James W. Hammond, Cori M. Blomdahl

Patent number: 7533785Abstract: A dispenser is provided for dispensing tablets. The dispenser generally includes a housing and a compartment. The compartment is pivotable with respect to the housing between a dispensing position and a non-dispensing position. The dispenser may also include a biasing member to bias the compartment to the non-dispensing position and a rib to resist accidental pivoting of the compartment.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2005Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: SeaQuist Closures Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Kelly A. Patent number: 7530478Abstract: A dispensing closure system (30, 30A, 30B, 30C, 30D) is provided with a peripheral wall or closure body (32, 32A, 32B, 32C, 32D) for extending from a container. In one form of the system, at least one lid (61 or 62/61A or 62A/61B or 62B/61D or 62D) includes a latch post (130D) for being received in a latch aperture (120D) in a rim (44D) of the peripheral wall (32, 32A, 32B, 32C, 32D) to increase the opening resistance of the lid. In another form of the system, two lids (61 and 62/61A and 62A/61B and 62B/61D and 62D) are molded with the body (32, 32A, 32B, 32C, 32D) as a unitary structure, and the lids are closable over two openings (51, 52/51A, 52A/51B, 52B/51C,52C/51D,52D).Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2005Date of Patent: May 12, 2009Assignee: Seaquist Closures Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Cori M. Blomdahl, Nicholas J. Jelich, James W. Hammond, Travis J. Hoepner

Patent number: 6935543Abstract: An improved dispensing closure system for dispensing a product from a container includes an elongate or oblong dispensing orifice for dispensing a ribbon of product. One form of the dispensing closure system also includes a spout having a dispensing orifice that is oriented at an angle relative to the closure deck and relative to the flow direction of product from the orifice. The closure provides for the dispensing of product in a clean and controlled manner without mess. One form of the closure system also incorporates conical geometries in transition surfaces extending from the container opening to the dispensing orifice. The conical geometries of the transition surfaces provides for a smooth transition of product flow from the container opening to the dispensing orifice, while minimizing the volume defined by the closure system spout and thereby providing increased “suck-back” and an abrupt “cut-off” of product compared to prior art devices.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2003Date of Patent: August 30, 2005Assignee: Seaquist Closures Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Susan DeGroot, Cori M. Blomdahl, David S. Pozgay

Patent number: 6655553Abstract: A closure structure for a container includes a cap and a surrounding tamper-evident sleeve. The tamper-evident sleeve is initially engageable with a retaining element of the container located below the cap to prevent axial upward displacement of the sleeve with respect to the container. The sleeve includes a retention member overlying the cap to prevent manipulation of the cap to an open condition. The sleeve includes a frangible feature arranged to be torn to facilitate removal of the sleeve to permit manipulation of the cap to an open condition.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2002Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Seaquist Closures Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Joseph W.
