Patents by Inventor Cornelia Rosu

Cornelia Rosu has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20240335784
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed towards sorbents, contactors, methods of using sorbents or contactors to capture CO2, and systems and devices using the sorbents or contactors to capture CO2. The methods, systems, contactors, and sorbents of the present disclosure can be advantageous over current technologies since they are relatively more robust and reduce the cost of capturing CO2, in particular from ambient air.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 5, 2024
    Publication date: October 10, 2024
Inventors: Christopher W. Jones, Cornelia Rosu, Miles A. Sakwa-Novak, Cassandra Hertz
  • Patent number: 11447870
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relates generally to methods of providing biomimetic superhydrophobic coatings to substrates, and more specifically to providing biomimetic inorganic silica or silane-based coatings that enable tunable hierarchical surface structures with high coating-to-substrate adhesion, resistance to various mechanical abradents, durability, shelf stability, and enhanced non-wettability or water-repellency.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 16, 2019
Date of Patent: September 20, 2022
    Assignee: Georgia Tech Research Corporation
Inventors: Cornelia Rosu, Laurens Victor Breedveld, Dennis W. Hess
  • Publication number: 20220169593
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for alkyl-aryl amine-rich small molecules that are prepared by nucleophilic substitution from tri- and hexa-bromine-substituted aromatic cores with various aliphatic diamines. The resulting products can be subsequently subjected by solution impregnation into solid mesoporous supports.

  • Publication number: 20220096999
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for materials comprising porous structures supporting (e.g., disposed therein and/or thereon) alkyl diamine-substituted aryl compounds, methods of making the materials and components thereof, methods of use thereof, and the like. In an aspect, the materials can be used to separate CO2 and/or adsorb CO2 in one or more CO2 capture or separation applications. In one aspect, the sorbent material can be used to separate and capture CO2 in gas mixtures (e.g., ambient air, flue gas, exhaust, and mixtures of these) in a wide range of concentrations. As a result, embodiments of the present disclosure are advantageous in that they can be used in different types of CO2 concentration environments.

    Publication date: March 31, 2022
Inventors: Eric W. PING, Miles A. Sakwa-Novak, Christopher W. Jones, Dharam Raj Kumar, Cornelia Rosu
  • Publication number: 20220096991
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for alkyl-aryl amine rich molecules impregnated into various porous substrates were examined for potential use as sorbents for CO2 capture from dilute and ultra-dilute gas streams such as flue gas and ambient air, respectively.
