  • Patent number: 4319010
Abstract: A process for solution polymerizing .alpha.-alkenes is disclosed, wherein the .alpha.-alkenes are polymerized at a temperature above 110.degree. C. in the presence of a catalyst which is dissolved in the reaction solvent. The catalyst is obtained by admixing a titanium compound, a magnesium compound which is not magnesiummono- or dihydrocarbyl, and an aluminum compound having the general formula AlR.sub.3-m X.sub.m, wherein R is the hydrocarbyl group, X is a halogen atom, and m is between 1 and 3.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 1976
Date of Patent: March 9, 1982
    Assignee: Stamicarbon, B.V.
Inventor: Cornelis E. P. V. van den Berg
  • Patent number: 4178300
Abstract: A novel process is described for the preparation of novel organic solutions of organooxy magnesium compounds of low viscosity, which solutions are formed in the presence of at least 5 mol % based on the magnesium compound of an organooxy compound of a transition metal of Groups IV through VI of the Periodic Table.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 1978
Date of Patent: December 11, 1979
    Assignee: Stamicarbon, B.V.
Inventor: Cornelis E. P. V. van den Berg
  • Patent number: 4048429
Abstract: Polymeric fibers are produced from a polymer-solvent solution without mechanical agitation means by supplying a polymer solution in a solvent to a radial-symmetrical mixing chamber and causing a rotary flow therein which subjects the polymer to shearing forces while, at the same time, adjusting the temperature of the polymer-solvent mix to just below the precipitation temperature of the polymer. Under these conditions a polymeric fiber precipitates which, after separation from the solvent, is useful in the preparation of paper and textile products.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 18, 1973
Date of Patent: September 13, 1977
    Assignee: Stamicarbon B.V.
Inventors: Cornelis E.P.V. VAN DEN Berg, Hubertus J. Vroomans
  • Patent number: 3995001
Abstract: Polymer fibers are made from a solution of polymer in solvent by subjecting the solution to shear forces in a confining space by introducing a gas stream into the space in a manner to create a rotary gas flow therein and to cool the solution to a temperature at which polymer precipitates from the solution in the form of fibers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 21, 1974
Date of Patent: November 30, 1976
    Assignee: Stamicarbon B.V.
Inventors: Hubertus J. Vroomans, Cornelis E.P.V. Van Den Berg
  • Patent number: 3957910
Abstract: Polymers of ethylene characterized by wide molecular weight distribution are produced by reacting the product at temperatures of at least 100.degree.C a mixture obtained by adding a alkene copolymer, containing reactive halogen to the polymerization product of ethylene optionally with a minor amount of another alpha-alkene in the presence of an active Ziegler-type polymerization catalyst.
