  • Publication number: 20030149514
Abstract: The method is used for the user-defined setting of a driver information system (10), in which data are stored and are retrievable for making a decision. In this context, it is provided that a user-defined decision matrix (26) is set up which is adjustable as a function of operating data and is retrievable for making a preliminary decision with the aid of the information system (10).

  • Publication number: 20030137407
Abstract: A device and a method of detecting and preprocessing vehicle data, traffic data, and/or driver data, such as the speed, direction of travel, engine condition, weather conditions, heart rate, etc., is described, in which the time and location of recording the data are also recorded in addition to the data mentioned. The position determination may be accomplished in particular by a positioning system such as GPS. The position may be adjusted using a digital map. The recorded data is preferably preprocessed in real time (4), coded, and/or compressed and/or subjected to a statistical analysis (5), linked mathematically/logically (6) and recorded and/or transmitted (7).

  • Publication number: 20030093217
Abstract: Method of route planning in a navigation system, taking place in three steps. In a first step, a quantity of first travel routes is determined on the basis of an optimization criterion, and location-independent and situation-specific user preferences derived therefrom. In the second step, the first travel routes are recalculated in sub-segments on the basis of location-dependent and situation-specific user preferences. In the third step, the determined travel routes are prioritized on the basis of at least one rating criterion. The intermediate results obtained are preferably displayed for the user after each step, so that he may select one of the routes if necessary and thus end the method early. The operating behavior of the user and/or the way in which the user follows the route recommendations may be monitored and statistically evaluated, making it possible to customize the rating criteria and user preferences for route planning.

  • Publication number: 20030054804
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for transmitting data via a radio transmitter, the data including at least one Internet address; a method for receiving data broadcast by a radio transmitter, the data including at least one Internet address; a radio receiver having a recognition circuit for the isolation of Internet addresses from received data transmitted by radio; and a method for controlling a radio receiver, or a device connected to the radio receiver, by data received by the radio receiver, the data including at least one Internet address, the at least one Internet address being formulated as a query for specific data made available by a provider, and the radio receiver or the device connected to the radio receiver being controlled as a function of data queried via a communication interface in accordance with the at least one received Internet address.

  • Publication number: 20020183923
Abstract: Proposed is a method, a data format, an encoding device, a decoding device and a system for encoding, for decoding and/or for transmitting location information, the location information including both locating information (450) and description information (470), a data packet (400) separately containing locating information (450) and description information (470); and the data packet (400) containing assignment information (460) for assigning at least a part of the locating information (450) to at least a part of the description information (470).

  • Publication number: 20020161518
Abstract: A method and a device are described for managing traffic-relevant events in a vehicle-based navigation system. A traffic information database (1810), which can be updated by the driver in particular through prioritized driver queries initiated by the system concerning the traffic situation is managed in the navigation system. Thus observations made by the driver during his trip can be stored in the database (1810) as traffic information and used for updated route planning.

  • Patent number: 6437854
Abstract: A radar system which is used for determining optical range includes a frequency analyzer for the analysis of differential frequency signals, which originate from a mixture of the transmitted signal with the received signals, for example reflected from a fog bank. The frequency spectrum images the distance profile of the fog bank.
