    Abstract: Novel grass plants, their progeny, and parts thereof are disclosed which have been genetically modified by introduction of a nucleic acid molecule encoding the transcription factor AtH1. This modification causes a heritable change in one or more plant characteristics such as, for example, inhibition of flowering, absence of inflorescence, increased production of tillers, delayed heading, and inhibition of the developmental switch from vegetative to generative growth.
