Patent number: 11635222Abstract: A damper controller may be configured to send damper control commands to open and close an outdoor air damper to provide free cooling as necessary to satisfy a temperature setpoint inside the building. In some cases, the damper controller may initiate a damper fault test to determine if a damper fault is present. The damper fault test may be based, at least in part, on an outdoor air temperature input, a discharge air temperature input, a commanded damper position, and a damper fault temperature threshold. If a damper fault is determined, the damper controller may send an alert indicative of a detected damper fault. In some cases, the damper fault test results may be weighted to reduce the false positives alerts.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2021Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Assignee: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Lubos Sikora, Adrienne Thomle, Cory Grabinger, Miroslav Mikulica, Jan Prostejovsky

Patent number: 11112899Abstract: A device having a display and a user interface incorporating buttons, switches or keys that may be programmable for various functions related to the purpose of the device and its display. The keys may be programmed for virtually any functions available to or on the device. Also, some or all of the keys may be reprogrammed for other or new functions. The device may be programmed by the user with the keys on the device to obtain a custom design having functions assigned to the keys according to a particular design, desire or choice of the user. The keys may be situated on an area having touch sensitive technology such that touching a particular key will call forth a function that is assigned to the key. The keys may be in a touch sensitive area apart from the display or be fully or in partly on a touch sensitive display.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2018Date of Patent: September 7, 2021Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Ondrej Ficner, William Bray, Petr Hanel, Milan Kostelecky, Cory Grabinger

Patent number: 10652034Abstract: A system and approach that may provide power to network switches of controllers in a failsafe manner. For instance, when a controller is receiving normal power, the controller may act as a power over Ethernet (POE) source that supplies power to its connected Ethernet devices as required. However, if power to a controller is lost, then Ethernet devices may switch to a powered device mode and use power from a neighboring device to keep active. Some power may be tapped for network switch operation from any network switch port receiving power from another device. This may allow communication to remain operational across multiple devices in a string of which some have lost a source of normal power.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2019Date of Patent: May 12, 2020Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Lou Jones, Cory Grabinger, John Hutchey, Paul Wacker

Publication number: 20180313559Abstract: An economizer controller with sensor calibration. A controller sensor may be used to measure a parameter. At the same time at the same location of the measurement with the controller sensor, a measurement of the same parameter may be made with a precision sensor. The difference between the two measurements may be saved to a controller memory as an offset. The offset may be used to compensate future measurements of the same parameter by the controller sensor. Additional offsets at various magnitudes may be obtained between the precision and the controller sensors for compensating subsequent measurements by the controller sensor. Measurements with the compensated sensor may be used for calibrating sensors in other economizer controllers, for example, at remote locations in the field.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2018Publication date: November 1, 2018Inventors: Cory Grabinger, Adrienne Thomle, Miroslav Mikulica
