  • Publication number: 20030102195
Abstract: A towing member for a piece of towable baggage is provide with towing handle that is pivotal in two dimensions relative to an arm portion of the towing member and can be locked into a plurality of predetermined positions. The pivotal relation of the towing handle and the arm potion enables the towing handle to be rotated into a position where a person can grasp the towing handle in a comfortable position by his or her side when the piece of baggage is being towed and also improves the maneuverability of a towable piece of baggage by reducing the need for a person to twist his or her wrist when steering the piece of baggage. The invention also allows the towing handle of retractable towing members to be pivoted into an appropriate position relative to the piece of baggage such that the towing handle lies flush with the baggage and will not become snagged on other items.

  • Publication number: 20020096410
Abstract: A towable, wheeled-backpack includes a towing handle attached to a curved, single-pole, telescoping towing member which retracts into the backpack when not in use. The curvature of the towing member provides support for a backing sheet that is attached to the towing member, and the backing sheet is contoured so that the backpack can be comfortably supported on a wearer's back. A rigid base with wheels is pivotally attached to a bottom end of the towing member. The pivot attachment allows the base and wheels to move independently of the towing member as the bag is worn or as the bag is rolled along the ground.

  • Patent number: 6293443
Abstract: A foldable garment hanger has shoulder support members that can be folded together while supporting a garment thereon. The foldable hanger allows the garment to be quickly folded in half about the centerline of the backside of the garment where the garment can then be folded horizontally one or more times so as to fit into a conventional carry-on baggage. The foldable hanger is further provided with a hook configured such that a traveler can unpack and unfold the garment by simply hanging the foldable hanger on a conventional hanger rod or hook and unfolding the shoulder support members of the invention. When unfolded, the invention can be used in a manner similar to a conventional garment hanger.

  • Patent number: 6059078
Abstract: An expandable bag movable between a contracted position and an expanded position. The expandable bag comprises a body enclosing a space. The body has top and bottom walls, front and rear walls and left and right walls. A handle is mounted on the body. At least one of the top and bottom and left and right walls includes first and second substantially rigid frame members movable toward and away from each other during contraction and expansion of the bag. A rigid plate and one or more fasteners for mounting the plate on one of the first and second frame members are provided. The plate slidably overlies the other of the first and second frame members to provide a rigid framework for the bag when the bag is in the expanded position.
