Abstract: Various exemplary surgical impacting tool couplings and methods of using surgical impacting tool couplings are provided. In general, an adapter can be configured to be releasably attached to a surgical impacting tool handpiece. The adapter can be configured to couple to a surgical implement configured to impact bone. The surgical impacting tool handpiece, such as a handpiece of an orthopedic impactor, is configured to drive impacting of the surgical implement relative to bone.

Abstract: In general, orthopedic instrument adapters and methods of using orthopedic instrument adapters are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, an adapter is configured to releasably attach to an end effector configured to impact bone. The end effector can be a broach, chisel, or other surgical implement. The adapter includes a spring-loaded hook that is configured to releasably seat in a cut-out formed in the end effector. The adapter is also configured to releasably attach to a surgical impacting tool, such as an orthopedic impactor, configured to drive impacting of the end effector relative to bone.

Abstract: An impaction handle for use during a surgical procedure to implant a fixed-bearing tibial tray into a surgically-prepared proximal end of a tibia is disclosed. The impaction handle includes an impact plate defining a proximal end of the impaction handle and an impact head defining a distal end of the impaction handle. The impaction handle also has an elongated shaft extending between the impact plate and the impact head, along with a locking mechanism to lock the handle to the tibial tray. The locking mechanism includes a thumbwheel positioned in the impact head and a locking shaft secured to the thumbwheel.

Abstract: A femoral finishing rasp assembly for use in an orthopaedic surgical procedure includes a femoral finishing rasp and an impactor adaptor. The femoral finishing rasp includes femoral-facing anterior and posterior surfaces, each of which includes a corresponding set of rasping teeth. The impactor adaptor is configured to couple to an exterior surface of the femoral finishing rasp and to an orthopaedic impactor to facilitate the use of the femoral finishing rasp on a distal end of a patient's surgically-prepared femur. A method for performing an orthopaedic surgical procedure using the femoral finishing rasp assembly is also disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for extracting an orthopaedic broach from a bone of a patient comprises an orthopaedic broach extraction tool having a pair of jaws that are operable to secure the orthopaedic broach extraction tool to the orthopaedic broach. Once secured, the orthopaedic broach extraction tool can be used to facilitate extraction of the orthopaedic broach from the patient's bone using, for example, a reverse impaction tool.
