  • Patent number: 6017243
Abstract: A kit of cord trip components which when applied to an electrical cord provide a strain-relieved, water-tight cord grip. A body having a bore with a tapered end wall and external thread portion receives a deformable bushing having a matching tapered portion. An assembly device having a second tapered end wall and an internal threaded portion receives a grip device having a plurality of displaceable fingers. When the assembly device is threaded onto the body, the deformable bushing is compressed upon a cord inserted in the cord grip to provide a water-tight seal and some strain relief while the displaceable fingers of the grip device securely grip the cord to provide the major portion of the strain relief. By changing the bushing and grip device, to ones having different diameter bores, and provided with the body and assembly device, the cord grip can accommodate a wide range of cord diameters.

  • Patent number: 5975941
Abstract: This invention relates to an electrical connector for attachment to the end of an electrical cable. The connector includes a split body having contacts supported thereon for attachment to conductors of the cable. The split body accommodates cables of different diameters and is provided with a cable clamping member which can be placed in either of the split body portions. This cable clamping member cooperates with a clamping jaw on the other body member to clamp the cable between the cable clamping member and clamping jaw to provide strain-relief when the two body parts are joined. The cable clamping member is fitted with various ribs, tabs, etc. to properly position the cable clamping member in the body portions.

  • Patent number: 5863221
Abstract: A water-tight assembly of an electrical plug or receptacle with a weather-resistance insulating housing employs interlocking ribs on the interior of the housing and the exterior of the electrical connector. Additional ribs on the interior of the housing insures intimate engagement between these ribs and provides additional seals. A shroud on one of the housings permits the joiner of two housings in a water-tight manner and a closure cap supported on a tether provides a water-tight closure of the housing when not in use.

  • Patent number: 5857873
Abstract: The present invention teaches a boot system for protecting plugs and connectors or receptacles for use in commercial and industrial environments or applications. A boot is provided for each of the plugs and connectors to be joined, with the boots being formed with triple-sealing cooperative surfaces which contact one another upon the boots being matingly joined. Each boot is further formed with stepped sealing means for receiving a cable to be wired to the device housed by the respective boot. Each boot is yet further formed with outer scalloped longitudinally extending surfaces adapted to receive the fingers of a user.
