  • Publication number: 20130157837
Abstract: A hybrid composite of Metal Organic Frameworks (MOF) encapsulated in nanocarbon material, wherein the MOFs are grown inside or outside or both side of nano carbon morphologies of the hybrid composite. Such composites may be prepared by a. dissolving and mixing a salt of the metal and a ligand in the ratio ranging between 1:1 to 1:4 (by w/w ratio) by sonicating them to form a precursor mixture; b. adding non-functionalized or functionalized nano-carbon material to the precursor mixture of step (a); c. sonicating the mixture of step (b) followed by heating; d. keeping the slurry obtained at elevated temperature followed by centrifugation.

  • Publication number: 20130123555
Abstract: The invention relates to a modified zeolite catalyst, useful for the conversion of paraffins, olefins and aromatics in a mixed feedstock such as FCC gasoline that contain high content of olefin, aromatic and n-paraffin into isoparaffins. The invention further relates to the use of such a catalyst, for example but not limited to, in a process for the conversion of paraffins, olefins and aromatics in a mixed feedstock into the product having high amount of branched paraffins with decreased aromatics and olefins, a useful gasoline blend, with negligible production of lighter gases.

  • Publication number: 20130096351
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved process for the selective hydroxylation of benzene. The process provides a direct single step selective vapour phase hydroxylation of benzene to phenol using molecular oxygen (air) over Cu—Cr oxide catalysts. The process provides benzene conversion of 10 to 45% and selectivity for phenol up to 100%.

  • Publication number: 20130087642
Abstract: The present invention provides spherical shaped crystals of common salt having size distribution in the range of 100-500 ?m and a process for preparation of the said salt. The above mentioned size range is relevant for many important edible and non-edible applications of salt. The salt is demonstrated to have superior flow properties compared to the cubic counterpart. The free flow property of the salt can be further enhanced through surface treatment with additive such as glycine. The salt is produced by cost-effective mechanical means and such production is amenable to scale up.

  • Publication number: 20130079396
Abstract: The present invention relates to benzylidene indanones of general formula 1. The compounds exhibited tubulin polymerisation inhibition. A series of compounds 2-benzylidene 3-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl) indanones having general formulae 1 were synthesized from gallic acid through a chemical process. 2-(3,4-Methylenedioxybenzylidine), 3-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl), 4,5,6-trimethoxyindanone (8), a representative compound of this series possessing the molecular formulae C29H28O9, was synthesized from gallic acid and exhibits potent anticancer activity. Compound 8 was evaluated for acute oral activity in Swiss albino mice and found to be safe up to 300 mg/kg body weight. The anticancer activity of the compounds has been determined, in order to obtain new potent and cost effective molecules using an in vitro cytotoxicity assay.
