  • Publication number: 20200010000
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to reducing the likelihood of injury to a passenger in a collision. In one example, a system for reducing the likelihood of a passenger submarining, may include a restraining device for restraining the passenger. A second restraining device for further restraining the passenger may also be included in the system. A locking mechanism may be configured to prevent a seat back from reclining when the second restraining device is not activated.

  • Publication number: 20190381965
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to reducing the likelihood of injury to a passenger in a collision. In one example, a computing device may determine that an impact between a vehicle and an object external to the vehicle is imminent. The computing device may determine a protection range for a vehicle's airbag based on characteristics of the passenger, including the passenger's seating location within the vehicle. An airbag extension system may position an airbag package, including the vehicle's airbag, such that the vehicle's airbag is within the protection range of the passenger's seating location.

  • Patent number: 10106124
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to airbag systems for vehicles. The airbag systems may reduce the secondary impact forces felt by an object upon rebounding from an initial impact with an external airbag by encasing or substantially surrounding the pedestrian with the external airbag. The airbag system may include an external airbag configured to deploy in a vehicle's external environment in order to reduce the likelihood of an object colliding directly with the vehicle and at least one adhesive layer arranged on the external airbag, wherein the adhesive layer is configured to reduce injury caused by a secondary impact of an object upon after an initial impact of the object with the external airbag by causing the object to stick to the external airbag.

  • Patent number: 10029315
Abstract: A drill bit configured for use with a rotary power tool including a chuck. The drill bit includes a shank including a first end and a second end, and a paddle that extends from the second end of the shank. The paddle includes a first face including a concave portion, a second face opposite the first face and the second face including a convex portion opposite the concave portion, a cutting surface, a cutting edge located at an end of the cutting surface, a relief angle defined by the cutting surface, and an angled rake face adjacent the cutting surface that defines a rake angle that is between about 5 degrees and about 45 degrees.

  • Patent number: 10023145
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to deployable structures, such as airbag systems, for vehicles. A system is disclosed for reducing likelihood of injury to a passenger in a collision. The system may include a seat configured to accommodate the passenger and an airbag system. At least a portion of the airbag system may be incorporated into a vehicle prior to deployment of the airbag system. The airbag system may include an airbag and a locking feature. The locking feature may be configured to lock the airbag with a locking portion of a vehicle when the airbag system has been deployed. The locking feature may be attached to the airbag. Aside from airbags, other confining structures, such as nets, shades, curtains, etc., may also be used as deployable structures.

  • Patent number: 9475141
Abstract: A reciprocating saw blade for use with a reciprocating saw, the saw blade including a body including a first substantially planar surface and a second substantially planar surface opposite the first surface, an attachment portion for coupling the saw blade to the reciprocating saw, a cutting edge including a plurality of cutting teeth, and a rib element including a pair of outermost rib members. One of the outermost rib members is proximate the cutting edge and the other of the outermost rib members is proximate a back edge of the blade opposite the cutting edge. Each outermost rib member includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portions of each of the ribs are substantially parallel to one another.
