  • Publication number: 20070186608
Abstract: A method for hemming an inner panel and an outer sheet metal panel together. The inner panel has an outwardly extending perimeter flange comprising an end surface, an inboard surface, and a beveled surface located between the end surface and the inboard surface. The outer sheet metal panel has a peripheral edge comprising a bend portion, an intermediate portion, and an end portion. The method provides a reduced radius hem by providing the beveled surface, assembling the inner and outer panels together, prehemming the peripheral edge to a spaced relationship relative to the beveled surface, and hemming the peripheral edge of the outer panel into engagement with the perimeter flange of the inner panel.

  • Patent number: 7241073
Abstract: A reduced radius hem assembly and method for joining an inner panel and an outer panel together. The inner panel has an outwardly extending perimeter flange comprising an end surface, an inboard surface, and a beveled surface located between the end surface and the inboard surface. The outer panel has a peripheral edge comprising a bend portion, an intermediate portion, and an end portion. In the finished hem assembly, the intermediate portion is adjacent to the beveled surface of the perimeter flange and the end portion overlies a portion of the inboard surface of the perimeter flange. The method provides a reduced radius hem while allowing the peripheral edge of the outer panel to cover the marriage gap and minimizing the potential for interference between the inner panel and the outer panel in the hem assembly.

  • Patent number: 7220944
Abstract: An improved, modular convection/impingement oven assembly for continuously cooking food. In certain embodiments, the assembly comprises at least one non-recirculating impingement oven unit and at least one additional oven unit, arranged as a series, in any sequence. A first oven has an elongated chamber, a conveyer system, hot-air impingement units, and an exhaust vent at the discharge end. Preferably, it has surface-treatment burners for browning, a brander for grill marks, and/or steam nozzles for introducing heat and moisture. Cooking vapors pass the entire length of the unit. Each subsequent oven may be similar to the first oven (often omitting the surface-treatment burners and brander) with its own vent. Each subsequent oven may cook by flame, air, or steam, in any combination. Each oven unit is independently controllable for cooking parameters and cooking methods. An air gap may be provided between each pair of oven units to decouple airflow between units.

  • Patent number: 7195179
Abstract: An apparatus of the present invention includes: a container operable to hold a liquid; circuitry operable to provide an electrical stimulus; and a piezoelectric element electrically coupled to the circuitry. The piezoelectric element includes a first face positioned beneath the liquid when the liquid is placed in the container, the piezoelectric element being responsive to the electrical stimulus to produce acoustic energy that causes droplets to form from the liquid. The piezoelectric element has a focal length along a focal axis intersecting the first face. The piezoelectric element and the container are structured in relation to one another to form an oblique angle between the focal axis and an axis generally parallel to a surface of the liquid when the liquid is at rest in the container.

In one embodiment the card has a first plastic substrate, a second plastic substrate, and two overlay layers. A portion of a first surface of the first plastic substrate is connected to a portion of a first surface of the second plastic substrate to define a cavity therebetween. An opening to the cavity extends from a side of the first and second substrates and provides access to the cavity. In another embodiment, one of the substrates has a generally clear portion and a generally opaque portion. Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for optimizing the control of energy supply and demand. An energy control unit includes one or more algorithms for scheduling the control of energy consumption devices on the basis of variables relating to forecast energy supply and demand. Devices for which energy consumption can be scheduled or deferred are activated during periods of cheapest energy usage. Battery storage and alternative energy sources (e.g., photovoltaic cells) are activated to sell energy to the power grid during periods that are determined to correspond to favorable cost conditions.

  • Publication number: 20060247270
Abstract: The present invention relates to 3-substituted-2-(arylalkyl)-1-azabicycloalkanes, methods of preparing the compounds and methods of treatment using the compounds. The azabicycloalkanes generally are azabicycloheptanes, azabicyclooctanes, or azabicyclononanes. The aryl group in the arylalkyl moiety is a 5- or 6-membered ring heteroaromatic, preferably 3-pyridinyl and 5-pyrimidinyl moieties, and the alkyl group is typically a C1-4 alkyl. The substituent at the 3-position of the 1-azabicycloalkane is a carbonyl group-containing moiety, such as an amide, carbamate, urea, thioamide, thiocarbamate, thiourea or similar functionality. The compounds exhibit activity at nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), particularly the ?7 nAChR subtype, and are useful towards modulating neurotransmission and the release of ligands involved in neurotransmission.

  • Publication number: 20060217406
Abstract: Compounds, pharmaceutical compositions including the compounds, and methods of preparation and use thereof are disclosed. The compounds are N-aryl diazaspirocyclic compounds, bridged analogs of N-heteroaryl diazaspirocyclic compounds, or prodrugs or metabolites of these compounds. The aryl group can be a five- or six-membered heterocyclic ring (heteroaryl). The compounds and compositions can be used to treat and/or prevent a wide variety of conditions or disorders, particularly those disorders characterized by dysfunction of nicotinic cholinergic neurotransmission, including disorders involving neuromodulation of neurotransmitter release, such as dopamine release. CNS disorders, which are characterized by an alteration in normal neurotransmitter release, are another example of disorders that can be treated and/or prevented. • Publication number: 20060191160
Abstract: An apparatus and method for treating a moving substrate of indefinite length. The apparatus has a control surface positioned in close proximity to a surface of the substrate to define a control gap between the substrate and the control surface. A first chamber is positioned near the control surface, with the first chamber having a gas introduction device. A second chamber is positioned near the control surface, the second chamber having a gas withdrawal device. The control surface and the chambers together define a region wherein the adjacent gas phases possess an amount of mass. Upon inducement of at least a portion of the mass within the region, the mass flow is controlled to significantly reduce dilution of the gas phase component in the adjacent gas phase. This is accomplished through the introduction of a controlled gas stream thereby reducing the flow of an uncontrolled ambient gas stream due to pressure gradients in the system.

  • Publication number: 20060182255
Abstract: Registering with a call manager includes connecting to a first call manager and a second call manager. The endpoints register with the first call manager and send keep-alive signals to the first call manager and the second call manager. If a failure is detected in the first call manager, the system initiates a failover process. The endpoints re-register with the first call manager when the first call manager regains operability.
