  • Publication number: 20150282260
Abstract: Solid state lighting apparatuses and related methods are described. In some aspects, a solid state lighting apparatus includes a substrate. The substrate includes a non-metallic body having a first surface and one or more electrical components supported on the first surface of the substrate. At least one electrical component is spaced from the non-metallic body by one or more non-metallic layers. The apparatus can also include an array of solid state light emitters supported by the first surface of the substrate and electrically coupled to the one or more electrical components thereof. The apparatus can further include a receiver supported by the first surface of the substrate, wherein the receiver is adapted to receive alternating current (AC) directly from an AC power source. Related systems and methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9142964
Abstract: This invention concerns an electrical energy supply and distribution system. The system is able to handle both large centralized electricity generation plants, as well secondary energy sources which are becoming increasingly important. These sources may or may not be connected to deliver electrical energy to a 50 Hz AC power distribution grid. The system comprises a supply side where multiple electrical energy generators are connected via connections ports, involving conditioning circuitry, into a single DC electrical energy source. This energy source may be supplied to a common inverter system to convert it to AC for transmission on over a power grid. A rectifier may take the AC power from the grid and delivers it to loads. Whether an AC grid in involved or not, on the delivery side energy is delivered to multiple loads via connection ports involving conditioning circuitry. Any of the generators or loads may be taken offline or connected back into the system at will.

  • Publication number: 20150257211
Abstract: Solid state lighting apparatuses and related methods are disclosed. In one aspect, a solid state lighting apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a substrate, one or more surge protection components supported by the substrate, and at least one solid state light emitter supported by the substrate. The surge protection components are adapted to receive alternating current (AC) directly from an AC power source. The at least one solid state light emitter electrically coupled to the one or more surge protection components. An overall height of the apparatus is approximately 4.5 millimeters (mm) or less. In some aspects, an overall surface area of the one or more surge protection components is approximately 168 square millimeters (mm2) or less. Surge protection circuitry described herein offers a compact form factor, compact surface area, is thin, and meets or exceeds surge compatibility standards.

  • Patent number: 9074441
Abstract: Systems and techniques, including a circle feeder, for the handling of drill cuttings, providing surge storage, rig buffer storage and wet and dry cuttings blending, including temporary storage of drill cuttings, optimizing storage capacity and the efficient and regulated movement of stored cuttings to a discharge port out of the hopper. Systems and techniques, maximize available space, provide optimized surge storage to optimize the use of downstream DPCS (and other transportation devices), provide optimized rig based storage and discharge, minimize or eliminate the occurrence of ratholing, bridging, degradation, segregation, and dehydration within the hopper, control and regulate the flow of cuttings from the hopper to the discharge port from the hopper, and provide metered discharge from the hopper storage, particularly when one hopper is discharging wet cuttings and a second hopper is discharging dry cuttings, and it is desirable to blend the wet and dry cuttings after such metered discharge.

  • Patent number: 9050893
Abstract: A driver circuit and a diagnostic method are provided. The driver circuit includes a first voltage driver, a second voltage driver, and a microprocessor. The microprocessor generates a first pulse width modulated signal to induce the first voltage driver to output a second pulse width modulated signal to energize a contactor coil. The microprocessor sets a first diagnostic flag equal to a first value if a first filtered voltage value is greater than a first threshold value. The microprocessor sets a second diagnostic flag equal to a second value if a first filtered current value is less than a threshold value. The microprocessor stops generating the first pulse width modulated signal to de-energize the contactor coil if the first and second diagnostic flags are set equal to the first and second values, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20150115962
Abstract: An MR coil former apparatus includes a body, a coil array, and a coil cover. The body defines a patient-facing positive surface opposite a non-patient-facing negative surface. The positive surface of the body includes an anatomic contour, and the coil array is disposed adjacent and conformed to the anatomic contour. The coil cover is disposed overlying the coil array and conformed to the anatomic contour.

  • Publication number: 20150066884
Abstract: A method for measuring a change between two values for one or more data elements over time uses a “delta” value to indicate the significance of the change. The delta value is the difference between the two values, added to the ratio between those values multiplied by an asymptote. Experimental data sets with known values may be used to create data sets to which selection criteria are applied in order to calculate an optimal asymptote for the application of the delta values. This optimal asymptote may then be used for calculating delta values across an entire population for predictive purposes.

  • Publication number: 20150066992
Abstract: A method for constructing a change database reduces the footprint of a standard longitudinal data database and increases the manageability of the data for many applications. The change database concatenates representations of a time period for the change, the direction of the change, and the value of the change into a single string. The change database is constructed by creating foundation files from formatted historical data, constructing change files from these foundation files, and iteratively creating master files that encapsulate the change data.
