Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture consistent with the present invention provide for locating a parked vehicle within a parking area. The parking area has a plurality of zones. Each zone is associated with a respective one of a plurality of location identifiers. A vehicle identifier associated with the vehicle is received by a data processing system. One of the location identifiers corresponding to a location where the vehicle is parked is then captured or received by the data processing system. The one location identifier is then stored in association with the vehicle identifier. When a request to locate the parked vehicle within the area is received where the request includes at least a portion of the vehicle identifier, the one location identifier is retrieved based on at least the portion of the vehicle identifier.
