Abstract: Methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for spatial processing in a radio receiver. One embodiment is a radio receiver for operation in a wireless communication system. The radio receiver may include a receive processing unit to process signals received by an antenna array by applying a selected spatial processing mode of a plurality of spatial processing modes. The modes include one or more modes of one or more spatial processing methods. The receiver also includes a selector to select the spatial processing mode from the plurality of spatial processing modes. The selecting includes selecting the spatial processing method in the case that the set of spatial processing modes are of more than one spatial processing method.

  • Publication number: 20070133496
Abstract: A data stream is transmitted between a base station and user terminal. A first resource that is available to transmit a page is selected at the base station and the page transmitted from the base station via the first resource. The page is received at the user terminal via the first resource and a second resource that is available to transmit a page response is selected at the user terminal. A page response is transmitted from the user terminal via the second resource in response to the page. A data stream is then transmitted between the base station and user terminal via a third resource. In one embodiment, the first, second and third resources utilize the same sequence of radio frequency resources that follow a hopping sequence among a set of available radio frequency resources. In one embodiment, at least two of the first, second and third resources utilize the same sequence of radio frequency resources. In yet another embodiment, the resources utilize different sequences of radio frequency resources.

  • Publication number: 20050157744
Abstract: A system and method are described for reducing data transmission collisions in a shared transmission medium. In one embodiment, transmission priorities are set by means of priority-defining transmissions. In another embodiment, statistically equal access is assured by means of unique transmit start time slot pairs wherein the paired start time slots are substantially equally spaced in time from a center start time slot. In yet another embodiment, data transmission traffic analysis is used to set unique transmission start time slots or to select from pools of start time slots associated with classes of data to be transmitted, thus establishing relative preemption priorities. In still another embodiment, transmission begins in statically assigned start time slots that are subsets of an available array of transmission start time slots.
