Publication number: 20240346395Abstract: Systems and methods for optimal planning and real-time control of energy storage systems for multiple simultaneous applications are provided. Energy storage applications can be analyzed for relevant metrics such as profitability and impact on the functionality of the electric grid, subject to system-wide and energy storage hardware constraints. The optimal amount of storage capacity and the optimal operating strategy can then be derived for each application and be prioritized according to a dispatch stack, which can be statically or dynamically updated according to data forecasts. Embodiments can consist of both planning tools and real-time control algorithms.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2023Publication date: October 17, 2024Applicant: IHI Terrasun Solutions Inc.Inventors: W. Publication number: 20240274855Abstract: Redox flow devices are described in which at least one of the positive electrode or negative electrode-active materials is a semi-solid or is a condensed ion-storing electroactive material, and in which at least one of the electrode-active materials is transported to and from an assembly at which the electrochemical reaction occurs, producing electrical energy. The electronic conductivity of the semi-solid is increased by the addition of conductive particles to suspensions and/or via the surface modification of the solid in semi-solids (e.g., by coating the solid with a more electron conductive coating material to increase the power of the device). High energy density and high power redox flow devices are disclosed. The redox flow devices described herein can also include one or more inventive design features. In addition, inventive chemistries for use in redox flow devices are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2024Publication date: August 15, 2024Applicants: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 24M Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Yet-Ming Chiang, W. Craig Carter, Bryan Y. Ho, Mihal Duduta, Pimpa Limthongkul

Patent number: 11888144Abstract: A method of manufacturing an electrochemical cell includes transferring an anode semi-solid suspension to an anode compartment defined at least in part by an anode current collector and an separator spaced apart from the anode collector. The method also includes transferring a cathode semi-solid suspension to a cathode compartment defined at least in part by a cathode current collector and the separator spaced apart from the cathode collector. The transferring of the anode semi-solid suspension to the anode compartment and the cathode semi-solid to the cathode compartment is such that a difference between a minimum distance and a maximum distance between the anode current collector and the separator is maintained within a predetermined tolerance. The method includes sealing the anode compartment and the cathode compartment.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2022Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: 24M Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Alexander H. Publication number: 20230389551Abstract: A presaturated wiping product is disclosed well suited for destroying non-enveloped viruses, including the Norovirus. The wiping composition contains a first anti-microbial agent blended with a second agent, such as a preservative. Even at very low concentrations within the wiping composition, the wiping products can completely destroy and kill non-enveloped viruses at relatively short contact times.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2023Publication date: December 7, 2023Inventors: Xiao Jiang, David Jones, Andrew Kloeppel, Andrew Kaziska, Craig Carter

Publication number: 20230270107Abstract: A disinfectant composition and method of use are disclosed that is particularly effective against viruses such as the Coronavirus and Norovirus. The disinfectant composition contains a carbonate/bicarbonate salt of a quaternary ammonium compound or didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride and water. The quaternary ammonium compound is at very low concentrations while still remaining effective against viruses and hospital bacteria. The disinfectant composition can contain an anti-microbial agent at concentrations that meets the environmental protection agencies level for food tolerance. Thus, the composition can be sprayed onto an adjacent surface without having to undergo a potable water rinse.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 17, 2021Publication date: August 31, 2023Inventors: Xiao Jiang, Marcus Bentley, Craig Carter
