  • Patent number: 6619212
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling operation of a vehicle on a guideway system, wherein the vehicle includes a first element of a linear induction motor and an alternate power source, and the guideway system has an acceleration section including a second element of the linear induction motor, and a computer control system. The method includes utilizing the second element in cooperation with the first element so as to accelerate the vehicle on the acceleration section of the guideway system, and providing speed instructions to the vehicle using the computer control system so as to cause the vehicle to use the alternate power source to maintain a desired cruising speed on a main section of the guideway system.

  • Patent number: 6620352
Abstract: A method for inspecting the material distribution of a sequence of stretch blow molded containers or other articles in a continuous production process, by providing injection molded parisons, each parison having at least one indicator, typically two or more indicators, for detecting material distribution at a predetermined position along the axial extent of the parison. Each of the parisons is subjected to a heating stage in the continuous production process, generally by exposure to infrared heating. Each heated parison is then subjected to a blow molding process, which can be a stretch blow molding process, so that each material distribution indicator is transformed to a corresponding position along the axial extent of the blow molded article. A detector is positioned to detect the location of each indicator on each blow molded article from a given mold in the production process.

  • Publication number: 20020188633
Abstract: A system for generating web pages includes a web server that receives requests from a web browser. The web server then checks a primary cache to see if a previously generated web page exists in the primary cache. If so, the web page is returned to the user. Otherwise, the web server checks a JIT cache to determine if a previously generated JIT cache file exists. The JIT cache file will have been previously processed in a manner such that all tag except for specially designated retain tags have been replaced with data values. The retain tags are then processed to provide what are typically user specific values, and the generated web page is returned to the requester. If neither a primary cached file or a JIT cache file exists, the system creates will create one. A primary cache file is created if no retain tags are present in a template file for the web page. Otherwise a JIT cache file is created.

  • Publication number: 20020162250
Abstract: The invention provides a unitary orthotic insert for a shoe that comprises a cupped heel portion having a concave upper bearing surface and a midfoot portion having a medial longitudinal arch support with a curvilinear upper bearing surface. The cupped heel portion extends above a most posterior cephalad portion of a calcaneus and is continuously coupled to the midfoot portion.

  • Patent number: 5907253
Abstract: A fractional-N phase-lock loop (PLL) with a delay line loop (DLL) having a self-calibrating fractional delay element which controls the PLL feedback signal in such a manner that the delay intervals for the feedback signal are: increased when small fractional divisors (<1/2) causing a lagging phase relationship or large fractional divisors (>1/2) causing a leading phase relationship are sensed; and decreased when small fractional divisors (<1/2) causing a leading phase relationship or large fractional divisors (>1/2) causing a lagging phase relationship are sensed.

  • Patent number: 5902526
Abstract: A non-destructive, direct method and apparatus for producing stretch blow molded articles having at least one physical dimension within a preselected range. The apparatus includes an injection mold defining an injection mold interior surface having a first differentially dimensioned portion disposed at a preselected location thereon and capable of producing a parison having a parison exterior surface including a first marker formed by contact with the first differentially dimensioned portion, and a stretch blow mold defining a stretch blow mold interior surface having a second differentially dimensioned portion disposed at a predetermined location thereon and capable of producing the article from the parison including a second marker formed by contact with the second differentially dimensioned portion. Relative position of the first marker with respect to the second marker indicates whether a dimension is within a preselected range.

  • Patent number: 5658635
Abstract: A message board comprising a bulletin board fixedly mounted on a backing of heavy cardboard or other substrate, and an optional dry-erase laminate fixedly mounted onto the bulletin board. A frame is fixedly secured to the edges of the bulletin board and backing. The frame is provided with a front channel and a rear channel, each adapted to receive and firmly retain a portion of a generally "C"-shaped grip. The grip may be integrally formed with various accessories desired to be attached to the frame of the message board.

  • Patent number: 5540678
Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided to ensure efficient transmission of a light flux from a first optic element to a second optic element located close to but not in intimate contact therewith. This is accomplished by providing an intermediate element made of a light-transmissive conformable material which is disposed so as to be simultaneously pressed to both a light-transmitting surface of one element and a light-receiving surface of the second element. Selection of a suitable material for the conformable element ensures the desired optical transmissibility and intimate contact, and thereby significantly reduces Fresnel and other losses of the type normally encountered when two relatively hard optic elements cannot be placed in intimate contact with each other. Commercially available two-component silicone rubber materials are found to be suitable for forming the light-transmissive conformable optic element.

  • Patent number: 5150552
Abstract: A building method and system for the progressive construction of extensions in a dwelling, where the layout of the extension has been previously established. The system is composed of three stages. In the first stage, only the necessary foundations are built, a limited number of precast vertical wall reinforcements and a temporay roofing are installed. In the second stage, load bearing walls are erected and fixed to the initial vertical wall reinforcements with mortar keys that fill indentations in the precast elements, complimentary wall reinforcements are poured and lintels, doors and windows are installed. In the third stage, the temporary roofing is relocated at a second extension while in the first extension a permanent slab is built and the interior partitions and finishes are installed.
