  • Publication number: 20120300449
Abstract: A light engine for a high intensity light that may be compliant with FAA or ICAO standards is disclosed. The light engine includes a first light emitting module having a light emitting diode mounted in a horizontal plane. A reflector has a reflective surface in perpendicular relation to the light emitting diode. The reflective surface is defined by combining the integrals of a required beam emission specification with the integrals of the light emitting diode. The resulting reflective curve is modified with focal length and curve based on horizontal plane position variables relative to the light emitting diode around an azimuth angle.

  • Patent number: 8096677
Abstract: A high intensity LED based lighting array for use in an obstruction light with efficient uniform light output is disclosed. The high intensity LED based lighting array has a first concentric ring having a plurality of reflectors and light emitting diodes. The concentric ring has a planar surface mounting each of the plurality of reflectors in perpendicular relation to a respective one of the plurality of light emitting diodes. At least some of the first plurality of reflectors are adjustable relative to the position of the respective light emitting diode to produce a precise beam pattern from the light emitting diode.

  • Publication number: 20110194280
Abstract: An LED light source is disclosed that is configured to be retrofit to an existing lamp fixture. The existing lamp fixture is of the type including a ballast housing for providing electrical power. The retrofit assembly includes a central support connectable to the ballast housing. A circuit board is mounted to the support. The circuit board includes one or more LEDs. A dome is mounted to the support and covers the LEDs. A circumferential heat sink is mounted around the support and extends radially beyond the ballast housing to carry heat directly away from the circuit board and support.

  • Patent number: 7300185
Abstract: A reflector for focusing light emitted from a light source in a generally planar direction is disclosed. The reflector is matched with the light source that is preferably a light emitting diode (LED) mounted on a substrate. The reflector is mounted over the LED on the substrate. The reflector is made of a clear material. The reflector has a semi-cylindrical front surface and a back surface with an indentation that is compatible with the light source. The reflector has a top reflecting surface divided into two quadrants and a bottom reflecting surface divided into two quadrants. The top quadrants and bottom quadrants are symmetrical in shape and reflect light emitted from the light source in a substantially horizontal plane. The reflecting surfaces may be TIR based or they may be coated with a reflective material in order to focus light from the LED.
