  • Publication number: 20230293923
Abstract: A fire suppression sprinkler adapted to receive arcuate surfaces of a grooved coupling is retainable to the coupling in a pre-assembled state. The coupling joins the sprinkler in facing axial end-to-end relation directly to grooved pipe. The sprinkler has a monolithic body which defines a bore having an inlet and an outlet. A groove, positioned between the inlet and the outlet extends around the body. A gap between the inlet and the grooved pipe to ensure the sprinkler and the pipe are joined by the coupling spaced apart in facing end-to-end relationship.

  • Patent number: 10471288
Abstract: A combination fire suppression sprinkler and coupling is provided in a pre-assembled state for rapid installation into a piping network. Coupling segments are pivotably hinged and an adjustable attachment assembly opposite the hinge secures the segments to one another. In the pre-assembled state the segments are held at a separation angle sufficient to permit insertion of a pipe element into the coupling without disassembling the coupling.

  • Patent number: 9958095
Abstract: A mechanical coupling for joining pipe elements end to end has a channel that receives a ring seal. The channel is defined by oppositely disposed sidewalls and the ring seal has lobes on opposite sides. The lobes have surfaces facing the side surfaces of the channel. When the ring seal is seated within the channel, each lobe surface contacts a respective side surface such that the lobes deform inwardly toward the center of the channel.

  • Patent number: 8819914
Abstract: A method for joining pipe elements end-to-end using a pair of pipe couplings attached to one another end to end surrounding a central space includes inserting the pipe elements into the central space, moving the coupling segments toward one another and engaging surface regions of the coupling segments with outer surfaces of the pipe elements, initially at a first contact point on the coupling segments and subsequently at second and third contact points on the coupling segments. The first contact point is located between opposite ends of the coupling segments and may be located on a region of infinite radius of curvature, may project radially inwardly toward the pipe elements, and may be located midway between the opposite ends of the segments. The second and third contact points are located at opposite ends of the coupling segments.
