  • Publication number: 20080138287
Abstract: The present invention relates to 3-substituted-2-(arylalkyl)-1-azabicycloalkanes, methods of preparing the compounds, and methods of treatment using the compounds. The azabicycloalkanes generally are azabicycloheptanes, azabicyclooctanes, or azabicyclononanes. The aryl group in the arylalkyl moiety is a 5- or 6-membered ring heteroaromatic, preferably 3-pyridinyl and 5-pyrimidinyl moieties, and the alkyl group is typically a C1-4 alkyl. The substituent at the 3-position of the 1-azabicycloalkane is a carbonyl group-containing moiety, such as an amide, carbamate, urea, thioamide, thiocarbamate, thiourea or similar functionality. The compounds exhibit activity at nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), particularly the ?7 nAChR subtype, and are useful towards modulating neurotransmission and the release of ligands involved in neurotransmission.

  • Patent number: 7375110
Abstract: Compounds, pharmaceutical compositions including the compounds, and methods of preparation and use thereof are disclosed. The compounds are N-aryl diazaspirocyclic compounds, bridged analogs of N-heteroaryl diazaspirocyclic compounds, or prodrugs or metabolites of these compounds. The aryl group can be a five- or six-membered heterocyclic ring (heteroaryl). The compounds and compositions can be used to treat and/or prevent a wide variety of conditions or disorders, particularly those disorders characterized by dysfunction of nicotinic cholinergic neurotransmission, including disorders involving neuromodulation of neurotransmitter release, such as dopamine release. CNS disorders, which are characterized by an alteration in normal neurotransmitter release, are another example of disorders that can be treated and/or prevented. The compounds and compositions can also be used to alleviate pain.

  • Publication number: 20060197763
Abstract: Disclosed is a document geospatial tagging, searching, archiving, and retrieval software system. The software system includes a tool that tags electronic documents with a geospatial tag. The geospatial tag indicates the shape and the geospatial points, in order, that define the location and extent of the geospatial location associated with an electronic document. Each point in the geospatial tag may be comprised of an X coordinate value, a Y coordinate value, an elevation/height value, and a date and time value. Electronic documents may be tagged manually by the user, automatically by the software application creating the document, or via a tagging search engine that searches files for geospatial location data and then tags each file with the results of the search. Once the electronic documents have been geospatially tagged, a search engine may search a network, either an intranet or the Internet, in order to locate electronic documents associated with a user desired geospatial location.

  • Publication number: 20050208045
Abstract: Cripto, a developmental oncoprotein, antagonizes activin and TGF-b signaling by forming a complex with activin and TGF-b and their type II receptors. This complex precludes the formation of a functional activin/TGF-b.type II.type I complex, thereby blocking the signaling of activin and TGF-b. Cripto may be generally capable of blocking antiproliferative Smad2/3 signals and provides a novel mechanism of oncogenic action with multiple therapeutic implications. Inhibiting the formation of Cripto and activin/TGF-b complex may enhance antiproliferative effects of activin and TGF-b.

  • Publication number: 20050125237
Abstract: Disclosed is a system that effectively gathers searchers of real estate products and services by using a large interconnected tree of geographically descriptive terms in combination with descriptive terms relating to real estate. The system allows searchers to connect to desired products and services in a very few number of clicks as compared to searching for real estate products and services using brand names. Various techniques are used to allow the searcher to obtain information on real estate products and services that relate to specific geographical locations. Searchers are encouraged to first link to sites that provide the highest referral fees. The wide net that is cast by the large domain name tree that includes various geographic descriptors, as well as real estate descriptors, and which is extensively interlinked, provides an effective way of obtaining a large number of searchers and specifically qualified leads for real estate services and products.

  • Publication number: 20050116966
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for displaying sections of large images such as maps. A grid is placed over an image database that references the various files contained in the database. When an area is identified for a query, the cells of the grid refer only to those files to be searched that pertain directly to the query. Further, the grid reference system also allows panning and zooming of the image to be dynamic and virtually instantaneous without limitation to the bandwidth of an Internet connection.
