Abstract: A remote controlled safety release mechanism comprising a housing having a latch member pivotally connected thereto and protruding therefrom. Attached to the housing is the first end of a strap, the second end of which is releasably attached to the latch member. Disposed within the housing is an actuation assembly which is mechanically coupled to the latch member and operable to selectively move the latch member between a locked position wherein the second end of the strap is maintained in attachment thereto and an unlocked position wherein the second end of the strap is released therefrom. The actuation assembly is adapted to receive a control signal, with the movement of the latch member between the locked and unlocked positions being facilitated by the selective transmission of the control signal to the actuation assembly.
