  • Patent number: 8375926
Abstract: A two stage cooled EGR system for a turbocharged internal combustion engine with an intake air charge air cooler. The first EGR cooler is a liquid-to-air cooler and the second, low temperature EGR cooler, is an air-to-air cooler combining with the gas flow downstream of the intake air cooler. The system bypasses EGR flow through the low temperature EGR cooler during certain engine conditions such as low engine coolant temperature and a check valve allows a limited portion of un-cooled, pressurized intake air to be passed through the low temperature EGR cooler for scavenging of any residual moisture and ultimate consumption by the engine.

  • Publication number: 20070144503
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation system for an internal combustion engine includes an intake manifold, an exhaust manifold, and a turbocharger compressor coupled with the intake manifold. The exhaust gas recirculation system includes an EGR valve fluidly coupled between the exhaust manifold and the intake manifold. The EGR valve includes a valve stem and a purge air inlet associated with the valve stem. The purge air inlet is in fluid communication with the compressor.

  • Publication number: 20050193964
Abstract: A piston cooling spray jet, installation tool there for, and method for the installation of the spray jet in an engine cylinder block are provided. A piston cooling nozzle has a hollow main body portion adapted to be press fit into a through bore of the engine cylinder block. A first end of the through bore is located in a piston gallery and a second end of the through bore is located in the main bearing journal. The through bore intersects with an oil circuit in the cylinder block. The main body portion of the nozzle has an orientation feature. An installation tool has a main body portion adapted to mateably engage a surface of the main bearing journal. A cap screw extends through an aperture in the main body portion, and an orientation key affixed to the main body portion partially surrounds the cap screw.
