  • Patent number: 10006568
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a tube assembly comprising: a first tube having a radial exterior surface, a second tube composed of a plurality of segments, the first tube co-axially nested within the second tube, at least a first spacer coupled to the first tube, and a second spacer coupled to the at least a first spacer, where a first segment of the plurality of segments is coupled to a first axial end of the second spacer, and a second segment of the plurality of segments is coupled to a second axial end of the second spacer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 6, 2016
Date of Patent: June 26, 2018
    Assignee: United Technologies Corporation
Inventors: Craig M. Callaghan, Gregory S. Scheiferstein
  • Patent number: 9874105
Abstract: The present disclosure includes active clearance control systems including improved cooling manifolds. Such improved manifolds may utilize multiple cooling zones to provide varied levels of cooling to an engine case.

  • Publication number: 20120110821
Abstract: A method of installing a bracket to an engine casing of a gas turbine engine includes attaching a first mount segment of a first bracket to an auxiliary component and attaching a second mount segment of the first bracket to the engine casing. In one exemplary embodiment, the method can include attaching a second bracket to the auxiliary component on an opposite side of the auxiliary component from the first bracket.

  • Patent number: 8104736
Abstract: A mount system for an auxiliary component includes two side brackets and a top bracket for rigidly attaching an auxiliary component to an engine casing. Each side bracket defines mount segments, a deformable member and two retainer members between the mount segment. The deformable member plastically deforms during a fan-blade out event, thereby absorbing a majority of the high shock load experienced on the auxiliary component. The retainer members maintain the attachment between the auxiliary component and the engine casing subsequent to the fan-blade out event.
