  • Patent number: 12228942
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system, method and apparatus for transmitting data reports at adjustable reporting rates based on detected rates of change in the heading of a tracked asset. According to a preferred embodiment, upon detection of a heading change, the device of the present invention may preferably power a location detection device (e.g., a GPS receiver or the like) to determine an accurate location. At the same time, the asset device may preferably monitor and store both the current heading and the rate of change of the heading. Based on the detected rate of change of the heading, the system may preferably select and update a report frequency based on a lookup table. Preferably, the lookup table may be based on a correlation between a given rate of heading change and predetermined temporal sample rates. According to a preferred embodiment, the higher the rate of change in heading may correspond to a higher temporal sample rate.

  • Patent number: 10869773
Abstract: A prosthetic finger includes a main body and a terminal gripper at an end of the main body for enabling fine-motor grasping skills. The terminal gripper has at least two tongs movable relative to one another. The prosthetic finger includes a gripping mode and a flexion mode. In the gripping mode, the tongs of the terminal gripper are able to move relative to one another while the main body is not able to flex, and in the flexion mode, the main body is able to flex while the at two tongs is not able to move relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 9784848
Abstract: A system and method for position determination using low earth orbit satellites. A mobile terminal affixed to an asset initiates a collection of global positioning system satellite measurements (e.g., code phase) based on a hardware trigger generated by a low earth orbit satellite modem. Timing information reflective of the time of the hardware trigger pulse is transmitted to an operations center along with the global positioning system satellite measurements to enable the operations center to determine a position of the mobile terminal.

  • Patent number: 9470797
Abstract: Various implementations of the invention comprise a position tracking module, a transmitter, and a controller. The position tracking module collects measurements from a plurality of positioning satellites, where the collected measurements may be used to determine a position of said mobile terminal. The transmitter transmits status reports to an operations center. The controller controls an activation of the transmitter based on an analysis of a geographic cost function, where the geographic cost function identifies a geographic area in which the controller alters a communication parameter of the mobile terminal. The alteration of the communication parameter may be used by the operations center as a basis for a change in a billing rate during at least part of a time that the mobile terminal is resident within the geographic area.
