Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for maintaining state information in an event driven thin client environment. A server-based method is provided for updating a presentation in an event driven, thin client device, comprising the steps of detecting a new presentation event; and sending a notification call to the client device containing information related to the presentation event to be recorded in a data model on the client device. A client-based method is provided for updating a presentation in an event driven, thin client device, comprising the steps of receiving a new presentation event from an application controller on an application server; and updating a local data model on the client device with information related to the presentation event. In addition, the presentation on the client device can optionally be updated based on the information related to the presentation event.

Abstract: A computerized method and system for compiling and presenting popular searches in an information repository are provided. Example embodiments may include receiving a number of search criteria from one or more users, respectively. The search criteria may be applied to a common information repository. Source and category information may be associated with each search criteria. The category information may identify a category of a number of categories into which information in the common information repository may be categorized. The source information may identify a source of a number of sources via which the search criteria are receivable. Each search criteria may be stored in association with the source and the category information.

Abstract: A computerized method and system for obscuring adult advertisements are provided. Example embodiments may include receiving a search criterion and locating multiple data items using the search criterion. The method may include determining that a subset of the multiple data items has determinable characteristics. The multiple data items may be presented to a user such that each data item of the subset of the multiple data items is uniquely presented and the content of each data item is at least partially concealed.

Abstract: A cancer test having prognostic utility in predicting time to disease progression, overall survival, and response to therapy in patients with MBC based upon the presence and number of CTC's. The Cell Spotter® System is used to enumerate CTC's in blood. The system immunomagnetically concentrates epithelial cells, fluorescently labels the cells and identifies and quantifies CTC's. The absolute number of CTC's detected in the peripheral blood tumor load is, in part, a factor in prediction of survival, time to progression, and response to therapy. The mean time to survival of patients depended upon a threshold number of 5 CTC's per 7.5 ml of blood. Detection of CTC's in metastatic cancer represents a novel prognostic factor in patients with metastatic cancers, suggests a biological role for the presence of tumor cells in the blood, and indicates that the detection of CTC's could be considered an appropriate surrogate marker for prospective therapeutic clinical trials.

Abstract: A writing assist device includes a hand-receiving body having an exterior surface with a convex contour for ergonomically receiving the palm and/or fingers of the hand of a user from underneath and a base adapted to easily move by pushing or pulling on a writing surface to allow writing by the user. The body includes an inclined channel for receiving a writing instrument, such as a pen or pencil, and a securing element to releasably secure the writing instrument at an inclined angle in the channel. The channel is disposed on the body such that the thumb and index finger of the user lie on opposite sides of the channel during writing in manner that generally resembles the natural gripping of a pen or pencil between the thumb and index finger of an able-bodied person to impart a more natural feeling of writing control. A removable, stretchable cover can be placed on the exterior surface of the body for the comfort of the user before the user places his/her hand on the device.

Abstract: A stator vane that may be used in an engine assembly is provided. The stator vane includes an airfoil that has a first sidewall and a second sidewall, which connects to the first sidewall at a leading edge and at a trailing edge. The airfoil also includes a root portion and a tip portion. The first and second sidewalls both extend from the root portion to the tip portion. The airfoil root portion is formed with a negative lean, and the airfoil tip portion is formed with a positive lean.

Abstract: A multi-piece card is provided including a plastic substrate having a first edge, a second edge, a third edge, and a fourth edge. The first edge opposes the second edge, and the third edge opposes the fourth edge. A first separation line extends from the first edge to the second edge and divides the plastic substrate into a first member and a second member. A first data-encoded strip is associated with the first member, and a second data-encoded strip is associated with the second member. The first member is connected such that it may be removed from the second member at the first separation line.

Abstract: The present invention provides a combination of (a) an antipsychotic and (b) an alpha4/beta2 (?4?2)-neuronal nicotinic receptor agonist. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising said combination and to the use of the combination in therapy. The method provides a reduced radius hem by providing the beveled surface, assembling the inner and outer panels together, prehemming the peripheral edge to a spaced relationship relative to the beveled surface, and hemming the peripheral edge of the outer panel into engagement with the perimeter flange of the inner panel.

Abstract: A card is provided including a plurality of layers connected together at portions thereof to form a pocket. In one embodiment the card has a first plastic substrate, a second plastic substrate, and two overlay layers. A portion of a first surface of the first plastic substrate is connected to a portion of a first surface of the second plastic substrate to define a cavity therebetween. An opening to the cavity extends from a side of the first and second substrates and provides access to the cavity. In another embodiment, one of the substrates has a generally clear portion and a generally opaque portion. The generally opaque portion is generally adjacent a perimeter of the substrate and defines a frame, and the generally clear portion is interior of the frame and defines a window.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for optimizing the control of energy supply and demand. An energy control unit includes one or more algorithms for scheduling the control of energy consumption devices on the basis of variables relating to forecast energy supply and demand. Devices for which energy consumption can be scheduled or deferred are activated during periods of cheapest energy usage. Battery storage and alternative energy sources (e.g., photovoltaic cells) are activated to sell energy to the power grid during periods that are determined to correspond to favorable cost conditions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to systems, methods, and apparatuses for providing a modular housing structure. One embodiment of the invention includes a modular housing structure. The modular housing structure includes a plurality of wall modules. Each wall module includes a plurality of wall panel struts. Each wall panel strut includes a wall mounting portion adapted to receive a portion of a wall panel, wherein the wall mounting portion includes at least one wall mounting element adapted to resist movement of the wall panel with respect to the wall mounting portion. The modular housing structure also includes at least one wall panel, wherein each wall panel is adapted to be mounted in compression between at least two wall panel struts, wherein each wall module can mount to an adjacent wall module, whereby a plurality of walls can be formed by the plurality of wall modules.

The compounds can exist as individual stereoisomers, racemic mixtures, diastereomers and the like.

Abstract: A reduced radius hem assembly and method for joining an inner panel and an outer panel together. The inner panel has an outwardly extending perimeter flange comprising an end surface, an inboard surface, and a beveled surface located between the end surface and the inboard surface. The outer panel has a peripheral edge comprising a bend portion, an intermediate portion, and an end portion. In the finished hem assembly, the intermediate portion is adjacent to the beveled surface of the perimeter flange and the end portion overlies a portion of the inboard surface of the perimeter flange. The method provides a reduced radius hem while allowing the peripheral edge of the outer panel to cover the marriage gap and minimizing the potential for interference between the inner panel and the outer panel in the hem assembly.

Abstract: An improved convection/impingement oven for continuously cooking food. The oven has a wire link type belt which moves through an elongated cooking chamber. Hot air is blown on the upper surface of the food to be cooked. A separately controlled hot air source is blown on the lower surface of the food. Hot air impingement units are placed along the length of the oven and the cooking vapors are not recirculated but instead pass along the elongated cooking chamber and are exhausted at the end. Preferably a color development and sealing section has upper and lower burners which heat the food and the heat from these burners also pass the entire length of the cooking chamber before being exhausted. Also preferably steam or a water spray is used to regulate the humidity and this may be regulated in several different sections of the cooking chamber.
