  • Patent number: 5560180
Abstract: Method and apparatus for tying bundles with straps made of paper pulp fibers. The machine is positioned transverse to a conveyor upon which bundles are moved into position for tying. The machine includes a track for guiding the strap around the bundle, applying an adhesive to the forward end of the strap, clamping the forward end of the strap, tightening the strap around the bundle, pressing the forward end against an overlapped portion of the strap until the adhesive cures, cutting the rear end of the strap, and releasing the bundle to be conveyed to a position for unloading from the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5467937
Abstract: An assembly is provided to support a track for guiding a cutting tape across the width of a travelling web of paper being wound up on a roll, which must eventually be cut and transferred to an empty wind up roll. The assembly includes a track to guide the cutting tape, a track carrier to hold the track, and a track carrier support to be fastened to the track carrier and support it above a flat base.

  • Patent number: 5456792
Abstract: A device in a cassette container for applying a strip of double-sided adhesive to a surface which comprises a rotatable supply roll of a composite tape consisting of a strip of double-sided pressure-sensitive tape adhered to a backing layer strip, a transfer roller adapted to receive the composite tape, temporarily adhere to the tape and, after rotating through a portion of a turn, apply the adhesive strip to a receiving surface. A return bend surface is provided near the transfer roller for separating the backing layer from the adhesive strip adhering to the transfer roll; a channel leads the stripped backing layer away from the transfer roll, and a braking means selectively prevents rotation of the transfer roller and releases the roller for free rotation.

  • Patent number: 5417383
Abstract: A system for feeding a cutting tape for a paper wind up machine along a track guide to apply a strip of adhesive to the forward end, measure it and cut the tape to a desired length, store it temporarily in the form of a hanging loop, feed the adhesive coated forward end to the exit end of the track adjacent a new roll for wind up of a paper web, and a brake to provide resistance to the tape so as to become tension to cut the web of paper and transfer it to the new roll.
