  • Publication number: 20050197455
Abstract: An olefin-based block copolymer is stabilized with a dispersing mechanism. The olefin-based block copolymer is first provided and is then circulated though the dispersing mechanism. Upon circulation through the dispersing mechanism, a particle size of the olefin-based block copolymer is less than 15 microns and the olefin-based block copolymer is thixotropically stable.

  • Publication number: 20050101746
Abstract: Compositions comprising a reaction product of a) an asymmetrical, saturated polyisocyanate that is non-cyclic, non-aromatic, and has at least 3 carbon atoms in the polyisocyanate per isocyanate group, b) a material that is at least one of i) a primary carbamate material having at least one functional group reactive with an isocyanate and at least one primary carbamate group or a group convertible to a primary carbamate group and ii) a reaction product of the primary carbamate material and an extending agent, and c) optionally, a chain extension agent that has at least difunctional reactivity with an isocyanate. Also, methods of making these compositions.

  • Patent number: 6841619
Abstract: The present invention provides an olefin-based block copolymer that has an olefin block that is substantially saturated and at least one (poly)ester or (poly)ether block. The olefin-based block copolymer of the invention can be prepared by reacting a liquid hydroxyl-functional, saturated or substantially saturated olefin polymer with a chain-extension reagent that is reactive with hydroxyl groups and will polymerize in a head-to-tail arrangement of monomer units. The olefin-based block copolymer of the invention can be used to prepare an adhesion promoter that provides excellent adhesion of subsequent coating layers to olefinic substrates like TPO and superior properties as compared to previously used adhesion promoters containing chlorinated polyolefins.

  • Patent number: 6423778
Abstract: A free paint film is formed and applied to a substrate with heat, pressure, or both. The free paint film includes an outer layer formed from a composition that includes an olefinic material. The olefinic material is an olefin-based block copolymer with an olefin block that is at least substantially saturated and at least one (poly)ester or (poly)ether block, an at least substantially saturated polyolefin polyol having a number average molecular weight of from about 500 to about 20,000 or a derivative thereof, or a combination of both.
