  • Patent number: 7758719
Abstract: Apparatus and method for recovering organic cellulosic fibers from landfill materials (such as post consumer, municipal and industrial waste materials). The apparatus and method selectively introduces waste materials containing organic cellulosic fibers into a size reduction machine. The pre-cleaned waste materials are conveyed to a tank, drum, or tunnel type fiber recovery apparatus. The waste materials are subjected to mechanical and fluid fiberization for a selected period of time to produce useful products, such as cellulosic insulation with a total ash content equal to or less than 10%, as well animal and fowl bedding products that is substantially devoid of moisture content, among other products.

  • Patent number: 7638021
Abstract: Apparatus for generating gas by electrolysis of a liquid comprises an electrolysis cell, and first, second and third chambers. Liquid for supply to the electrolysis cell is stored in the first chamber. The second chamber contains liquid which is a product of the electrolysis reaction and is enriched with a first gaseous product of the electrolysis reaction, and has an outlet for controlled release of the first gaseous product. The third chamber contains liquid which is a product of the electrolysis reaction and is enriched with a second gaseous product of the electrolysis reaction, and has an outlet for controlled release of the third gaseous product. A first channel which connects the first and second chambers, and a second channel which connects the second and third chambers.

  • Publication number: 20090212936
Abstract: A method, apparatus and system are provided that receive an alarm record and compare the alarm record to a suppression description that describes an alarm to be suppressed. A suppression flag of the received alarm record is set in accordance with a result of the comparison. A suppression trigger message may be received and compared to the suppression description. The suppression description may be enabled in accordance with the result of the suppression trigger message comparison and the alarm record compared to the suppression description only if the suppression description is enabled.

  • Patent number: 7391718
Abstract: A method of switching a network access configuration associated with a first electronic system to a second electronic system via a network is described. The first electronic system is inoperable. The second electronic system replaces the first electronic system such that a user seamlessly transitions from the first electronic system to the second electronic system. The user continues to access the network resources using the second electronic system rather than the first electronic system.

  • Patent number: 7197541
Abstract: A method and system for restoring device personality after failure. Specifically, the present invention discloses a method and system for automated personality transfer in a wireless enabled handheld device. In one embodiment, the present invention automatically extracts personality information that is unique and critical to the proper functionality of an electronic device. A personality file containing the personality information is created and stored on the electronic device. The personality file can be then transferred to another electronic device for archival purposes. Thereafter, should the personality information be lost due to device failure, embodiments of the present invention provide for restoring the electronic device back to its original operating state by importing the personality information back into the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 7147121
Abstract: A valve for use with a cap for a spill resistant cup, the cap including a spout to dispense the liquid and a valve mount extending from the spout to engage with the valve. The valve includes a generally cylindrical valve tower extending from a valve base to sealingly engage the valve mount and having an interior bore for the passage of liquid and a valve face sloping across an upper end of the valve tower bore from a higher first point on a first side of the valve tower and to a lower second point on a diametrically opposite second side of the valve tower. A valve mechanism is located in the valve face for controlling a flow of the liquid through the valve mechanism dependent upon a pressure differential across the valve face. The valve mechanism is a valve slit extending through the valve face perpendicular to a mouth opening in the spout and is S-shaped or straight.

  • Patent number: 6724720
Abstract: A method of switching a network access configuration associated with a first electronic system to a second electronic system via a network is described. The first electronic system is inoperable. The second electronic system replaces the first electronic system such that a user seamlessly transitions from the first electronic system to the second electronic system. The user continues to access the network resources using the second electronic system rather than the first electronic system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an application for switching the network access configuration is invoked using the second electronic system. During a first phase, the application transmits first data to a network infrastructure provider. The network infrastructure provider obtains approval for switching the network access configuration from the network service provider.

  • Patent number: 6697034
Abstract: A volumetric, 3-D image is produced by moving a small number of 1-dimensional light arrays such that virtually all points of a desired volume have at least one light pass through them within the refresh time of the human eye. The motion of the lights consists of two simultaneous motion cycles that are substantially orthogonal to each other, with one being faster than the other. Proper control of the lights thus allows images to be produced within the volume. Each light element may be composed of a collection of smaller, directional lights, each pointed in a different direction. In such case, the lights may be controlled in a manner that permits each viewer of the volumetric image to only see a variant of that image properly hidden-line removed for his or her particular viewpoint. The display can thus produce volumetric images appearing appropriately hidden-line removed from multiple viewpoints simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 6661920
Abstract: A method and system providing simultaneous data entry for a computer system having both on-screen keyboard entry and mechanisms for handwriting recognition entry. In one embodiment, a portable or palmtop computer system contains a flat panel display screen capable of displaying thereon a keyboard image (“virtual keyboard”). Characters can be entered into the computer system by a user interacting with (e.g., tapping) the displayed characters of the virtual keyboard. The computer system also provides a handwriting recognition mechanism (e.g., digitizer pad) whereby characters are recognized based on a user drawing strokes on the pad. In accordance with the present invention, the virtual keyboard and the handwriting recognition mechanism are simultaneously active for data entry. Therefore, the computer system can accept character entry from the handwriting recognition mechanism while the virtual keyboard is displayed and active and capable of providing character entry itself.

  • Patent number: 6529728
Abstract: A portable communication unit (PCU) (102) performs (402) a registration process with a wireless local area network (WLAN) (104) when the PCU moves within communication range of the WLAN. The PCU and the LAN cooperate to create (404) a local information profile describing at least one of types of information and methods of delivering the information desired by a user of the PCU. During the registration process, the PCU and the WLAN cooperate further to determine (406) whether a type of information described in the local information profile is out-of-date or missing in the PCU. If so, the WLAN downloads (408) the type of information to the PCU in accordance with the local information profile.

  • Publication number: 20020126119
Abstract: The device is a volumetric, stage-type three-dimensional display. It produces three dimensional images inside of a cylindrical or spherical volume that can be viewed from a very wide range of viewpoints. The images produced are also be able to be made to appear as if the hidden lines have been removed with respect to virtually all viewpoints—essentially making the three-dimensional image appear opaque to viewers at any viewpoint.
