    Abstract: Methods and systems for external preprocessing of service requests to avoid unnecessary wakeup of a sleeping node and improve power savings. An exemplary method comprises receiving from a sleep capable node a redirected service request; and selecting, depending on a service request type of the service request, among transmitting to the sleep capable node a wakeup request and providing to a client node a service requested in the service request without transmitting to the sleep capable node a wakeup request. In some embodiments, the selecting step comprises selecting among transmitting to the sleep capable node a full wakeup request, transmitting to the sleep capable node a partial wakeup request and providing to the client node a service requested in the service request without transmitting to the sleep capable node a wakeup request.
