  • Publication number: 20230105020
Abstract: Techniques of self-checkout alerts based on packaging detection. A given bag type of a bag selected at a self-checkout kiosk is identified out of a bag types available from a bag dispenser associated with the self-checkout kiosk, the bag being an empty bag. A weight range of the empty bag is identified based on the given bag type. An allowed weight range of a combination of the empty bag and a desired item is determined based on the weight range of the empty bag, a weight of the desired item as measured by a terminal scale, and at least one of a measurement tolerance of the terminal scale and a measurement tolerance of a platform scale. A loss prevention alert is generated, and a transaction at the self-checkout kiosk is paused, upon determining that the allowed weight range is exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20230109436
Abstract: Techniques for self-checkout alert reduction based on packaging detection. A deflection in a first bag reservoir associated with a self-checkout kiosk is determined. The first bag reservoir is positioned adjacent to a packing area and includes a first type of bags. The self-checkout kiosk includes a terminal scale and further includes a platform scale in the packing area. That an empty bag is retrieved from the first bag reservoir is determined based on the deflection in the first bag reservoir. A bag type and a weight range are identified for the empty bag. An allowed weight range of a combination of the empty bag and a desired item is then determined. Presence of the empty bag on the platform scale is prevented from causing a loss prevention alert to be generated when the desired item has been placed in the empty bag on the platform scale.

  • Patent number: 11562632
Abstract: The present disclosure provides improved packaging detection at self-checkout kiosks by identifying a given bag type for a bag selected at a self-checkout kiosk out of a plurality of bag types available from a bag dispenser associated with the self-checkout kiosk; identifying a weight range for the given bag type; in response to determining that the bag has been moved to a packing area of the self-checkout kiosk, comparing a first weight in the packing area from before the bag was moved to the packing area with a second weight in the packing area that includes the bag; and in response to a difference between the first weight and the second weight falling outside of the weight range, generating a loss prevention alert and pausing a transaction at the self-checkout kiosk.

  • Patent number: 11244543
Abstract: A self-checkout (SCO) station for a retail store has a reconfigurable bagging section that receives items scanned by a user. The SCO station determines whether the user does or does not require the SCO station to operate in a mode that complies with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If so, the SCO station automatically reconfigures the bagging section to ensure that the user is able to reach all items in the bagging section.

  • Patent number: 10158614
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to electronic data transfer methods and systems for multiple recipient destination processing. A plurality of computer readable memory locations in a computer readable database associated with a first entity computer system is maintained. Electronically, via a computer-based data communications network, an instruction is received for electronic data transfer EDI data payload including a stored value data attribute, and data transfer request attribute, and a first recipient destination and a second recipient destination; wherein the first recipient destination and the second recipient destination are associated with different recipient virtual memory locations. Responsive to the data transfer request attribute request being extracted, EDI data payload associated with the stored value data attribute to the first recipient destination and the second recipient destination is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 8480168
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns embodiments of an operating support that supports a surgeon in a sitting position straddling a patient. By straddling the patient, the surgeon is ideally positioned to perform certain types of laparoscopic surgery, such as pelvic surgery, which requires the use of relatively long surgical instruments. The operating support supports the surgeon in a more ergonomically correct position that reduces the stress and strain on the surgeon's body as compared to the conventional technique of performing laparoscopic surgery in a standing position at one side of the operating table.

  • Publication number: 20100219091
Abstract: The present disclosure describes bags for retrieving and/or containing tissue and portions thereof that improve insertion and/or containment of tissue (e.g., organs or portions of organs) in such bags. In one embodiment, a bag has an overall tapered shape and includes a relatively wide mouth and a tapered body for containing tissue. The front of the body has a curved longitudinal wall section in an opposing relationship with a rear wall section of the body that extends perpendicular to the mouth along substantially the entire length of the bag. The curved wall section is sized and shaped to allow a relatively large organ, such as a kidney, to easily settle into and occupy a lower end portion of the bag. The bag is also shaped to support the organ in the lower end portion of the bag in an orientation that generally aligns the length of the organ in the removal direction to facilitate extraction of the organ from the body.
