Patents by Inventor Craig Warren Jones

Craig Warren Jones has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20020198125
Abstract: A water soluble package and a substantially non-aqueous liquid rinse conditioning composition therein, wherein the water soluble package comprises a polymeric film provided one or more modifying protective functional groups. The modifying protective functional groups are arranged to protect the active functional groups that may be present in the film so as to prevent decomposition of the film during the wash cycle but to allow or accelerate decomposition of the film during the rinse cycle.

  • Patent number: 6432911
Abstract: An aqueous fabric conditioning composition comprises a cationic surfactant, an oil, a solvent and is in the form of a water-in-oil micro-emulsion. The cationic surfactant comprises either (a) quaternary ammonium compounds having at least one ester group and being formed from a parent fatty acid having a degree of unsaturation represented by an iodine value of from 20 to 140 or (b) quaternary ammonium compounds having two C8-C28 alkyl or alkenyl chains directly attached to the nitrogen and being formed from a parent fatty acid having a degree of unsaturation represented by an iodine value of from 0 to 20 or (c) mixtures of (a) and (b). The invention also relates to a process for treating fabrics and a method for preparing a fabric treatment composition.

  • Patent number: 6410501
Abstract: A fabric conditioner concentrate is produced comprising a liquid or soft solid derivative of cyclic polyol or a reduced saccharide resulting from 35 to 100% of the hydroxyl groups in the cyclic polyol or reduced saccharide being esterified or etherified, the derivative having at least two or more ether groups independently attached to a C8-C22 alkyl or alkenyl chain or mixtures thereof, containing at least 35% tri- or higher esters, an emulsifying agent, a deposition aid and less than 30% by weight water. The nonionic fabric softening component dissolves the deposition aid, which, if it is a cationic deposition aid, can also act as an emulsifying agent, allowing the composition to emulsify easily on mixing with water. Fabric conditioning concentrates according to the present invention maybe in the form of clear isotropic compositions or clear water-in-oil micro-emulsions. The deposition aid allows the nonionic fabric softening component to deposit onto fabric from the emulsion during a rinse step.

  • Publication number: 20010027173
Abstract: A softening compound comprises a derivative of a cyclic polyol or a derivative of a reduced saccharide having, on average, 30 to 80% of its hydroxyl groups esterified and/or etherified, one or more long chain C8 to C22 alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyalkyl groups and one or more quaternary ammonium group, the C8 to C22 alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyalkyl group(s) being attached to an ester or ether group. Preferably the compound has two or more ester and/or ether groups. A fabric softening composition comprises from 1 to 80 wt % of the softening compound, based on the total weight of the composition. A method for forming such compounds comprises reacting a cyclic polyol or a reduced saccharide with a fatty acid and a halogen alkyl acid chloride to form an, at least partly, esterified cyclic polyol or reduced saccharide and then quaternising the esterified compound so as to form a CPED or RSED comprising a quaternary ammonium group.
