    Abstract: A robust multiple-walled, multi-pass, high cooling effectiveness cooled turbine vane or blade designed for ease of manufacturability, minimizes cooling flows on highly loaded turbine rotors. The inventive vane or blade design allows the turbine inlet temperature to increase over current technology levels while simultaneously reducing turbine cooling to low levels. The invention comprises a complex multi-wall cooling system, which meets the inherent conflict to maximize the flow area of the cooling passages while retaining the required section thickness to meet the structural requirements. Independent cooling circuits for the vane or blade's pressure and suction surfaces allow the cooling of the airfoil surfaces to be tailored to specific head load distributions (that is, the pressure surface circuit is an independent forward flowing serpentine while the suction surface is an independent rearward flowing serpentine).

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrodepositable coating composition having a resinous phase dispersed in an aqueous medium. The resinous phase includes (a) an ungelled, active hydrogen-containing, ionic salt group-containing resin; and (b) a curing agent reactive with the active hydrogens of the resin (a). The resinous phase has a covalently bonded halogen content based on total weight of resin solids present in the resinous phase such that when the composition is electrodeposited and cured, the cured film passes flame resistance testing in accordance with IPC-TM-650, and has a dielectric constant of less than or equal to 3.50. The invention also is directed to a method for forming a dielectric coating on an electroconductive substrate using the electrodepositable coating composition, as well as to a substrate coated with the electrodepositable composition.

    Abstract: The invention consists of a system and method for transferring video images from video sources to video receivers using a video server as an intermediary. The video server creates a list of all the requests from the video receivers for a video image from a video source. The video server requests the video image from the video source and then sends the video image to each video receiver on the list. The video source is only required to send one image for any number of requests from video receivers and the video sources and video receivers have no direct connection to each other. The load of handling many video sources and many video receivers can be distributed amongst multiple video servers.

When an identity badge is presented to the camera by a person requesting access to the facility, a computer that is monitoring the camera recognizes a bar code or other symbols on the badge and accesses a database to locate information associated with that identity badge. This information is then used to determine if the person should be granted access.

    Abstract: The present invention describes a process for the application of a powder coating to a non-conductive substrate by first exposing the non conductive substrate to a combination of steam and heat at temperatures between 70° C. and 140° C. for a period between 5 seconds and up to 10 minutes, followed by electrostatic application of a powder coating to the substrate which is grounded; this simple and reliable pre-treatment method allows an efficient application of powder coatings to non-conductive substrates resulting in uniform and even deposition of the powder coating over the whole surface including edges and with no adverse effects on the subsequent curing of the powder film.

    Abstract: In a rigid/flex circuit board and fabricating process, patterns of electrical traces are formed by etching conductive layers on outer surfaces of a flexible multi-layer circuit structure. A protective barrier material is deposited on the etched traces using an "electroless" process, such as immersion of the flexible circuit board in an aqueous solution containing ionic tin. The protective barrier material adheres to and encapsulates the copper traces. An outer circuit structure including a bondfilm of epoxy-impregnated fiberglass ("prepreg" bondfilm) and a copper foil layer is laminated onto the flexible circuit structure. The prepreg bondfilm has a window area removed by routing or an equivalent process prior to being laminated to the flexible structure. The window area defines a flex area of the rigid/flex circuit board that will be relatively flexible.

    Abstract: A laser welder fault detector system, including a microphone and an associated electronic circuit operatively connected to a solenoid actuated ink jet, is provided to detect the formation of defective welds by an intermittently energized laser and to spray ink on sheets of metal being welded to mark the location of the defective welds. Defective welds are detected by acoustic signals generated during the welding process and picked up by the microphone, the amplitude of the signals, when defective welds are being formed, being relatively low compared to those generated when normal welds are being produced. The electronic components of the system compare the acoustic signals generated during the welding process with a reference signal characteristic of the formation of a normal weld.
