The detachable sole preferably includes at least: a chassis portion overmolded with a tread portion; and a latch assembly for securing the chassis adjacent the ski boot. The ski boot preferably provides a contoured heel portion and the latch assembly preferably incorporates a latch configured to conform to the contoured heel portion, a latch support interacting with the latch; an attachment member communicating with said chassis; and an adjustment member interposed between said latch support and said attachment member to accommodate a snug conformance of the latch adjacent the heel portion.

Abstract: A combination and methods of making and using the combination are disclosed. Preferably the combination includes at least: an ankle and foot covering; a detachable sole detachably attached to the ankle and foot covering; and a detachable sole storage rack attached to the ankle and foot covering for use in storing the detachable sole when detached from the ankle and foot covering. The detachable sole preferably includes at least: heel and toe chassis portions each formed from a baffled support matrix and overmolded with tread portions; and an over-center latch coupled to an attachment hoop. The over-center latch preferably incorporates adjustment features to accommodate varying sizes of the ankle and foot coverings. Upon latching of a properly adjusted over-center latch adjacent the ankle and foot covering, a holding force transmitted through the attachment hoop secures the detachable sole adjacent the ankle and foot covering.

Abstract: An irrigation system is composed of a mobile sprinkler cart; a system water supply pipe supporting a plurality of hydrants adapted to be engaged by the mobile sprinkler cart and to supply water to a sprinkler supported on the cart; and an addressable electronic ID tag mounted on each hydrant. A main controller is programmed to control operation of the mobile sprinkler cart, and the ID tag is adapted to send at least hydrant identifying data to the main controller to thereby enable the main controller to move the mobile sprinkler cart to the hydrant.

Abstract: A power and control system for minimizing home-run power lines to fixtures located throughout a building and wirelessly controlling fixtures according to zones defined irrespective of their wiring. Less “pipe and box” is necessary when branch circuits are not used to define zones. A building may be wired in order to minimize costs, while increasing flexibility and reliability by implementing wireless zone control.

Abstract: An article carrier for attachment to a vehicle includes a first side rail an a second side rail to be located extending generally parallel to one another and spaced laterally from one another with respect to a longitudinal centerline of the vehicle. A first cross-rail and a second cross-rail are independently movable between a stowed position and a deployed position, wherein the stowed position of the first and second cross-rails are axially aligned with a corresponding side rail, and the deployed position of the first and second cross-rail are laterally extending between the first and second side rails. The cross rails can be gas assist, injection molded cross rails. A manually hand/finger rotated fastener attaches each end of the first and second cross-rails to the first and second side rails in the stowed position and the deployed position.

Abstract: A tensioning assembly 10 for a cable bolt 11 comprises a clamping device (14, 16) adapted for fastening to the bolt and an outer member 18 adapted for interacting with the clamping device. The outer member 18 is able to undergo relative movement to the clamping device in the direction of the bolt's axis, and under such movement, the clamping device is caused to fasten to the bolt. Furthermore, the outer member is adapted for interacting with the bolt 11 whereby, during such relative movement, twisting of the bolt 11 with respect to the outer member 18 is restrained.

Abstract: The invention is directed to methods of producing ethanol and decreasing residual starch production in a no cook fermentation comprising contacting granular starch containing substrates with a granular starch hydrolyzing enzyme, a protease, and a fermenting microorganism under suitable fermentation conditions at a temperature below the starch gelatinization temperature of the starch substrate to produce ethanol, wherein the ethanol production is increased and the amount of residual starch is decreased compared to a substantially similar method conducted without the protease.

Abstract: The self-expandable endovascular apparatus for aneurysm occlusion of the invention comprises a deformable shape memory frame with at least a partial segment covering comprised of a matrix implant material. The device can be folded and/or stretched to adopt a narrow profile for loading into a coaxial delivery device and expands in place as it adopts its original shape on release from the device into an aneurysm. A method of treating an aneurysm, comprises the steps of: (a) providing the self-expandable endovascular apparatus inserted into a lumen of a delivery device comprising a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end having a distal tip; (b) advancing the distal tip of the delivery device into an opening in an aneurysm having an interior sac; (c) advancing the apparatus through the lumen into the opening; and (d) withdrawing the delivery device, whereby the apparatus expands into the sac and covers the opening.

Abstract: A new and distinct variety of strawberry (Fragaria×ananassa), which originated from seed produced by a hand-pollinated cross between FL 96-114 and FL 95-200. The new strawberry, named ‘Florida Elyana’, is distinguished by production of large, firm, exceptionally flavored fruit and resistance to crown and fruit rots when grown in west central Florida or other areas that have a subtropical climate similar to that of west central Florida.

Abstract: In a cleaning process for an ion source chamber, an electrode positioned outside of the ion source chamber includes a suppression plug. When the cleaning gas is introduced into the source chamber, the suppression plug may engage an extraction aperture of the source chamber to adjust the gas pressure within the chamber to enhance chamber cleaning via. plasma-enhanced chemical reaction. The gas conductance between the source chamber aperture and the suppression plug can be adjusted during the cleaning process to provide optimum cleaning conditions and to exhaust unwanted deposits.

Abstract: By matching a first data set including digital, three-dimensional, dental models with a second data set including digital, cranio-facial 3D medical scan records, missing or inaccurate portions of the cranio-facial 3D medical scan record can be improved. Example methods for matching the data sets include automatically positioning the dental model with respect to the 3D medical scan record and automatically eliminating common (i.e., overlapping) portions from one of the data sets. Two-dimensional images can be mapped onto images generated from either of the first and second data sets to enhance accuracy and/or photo-realism.

A low battery shut-off feature shuts down the printer at a set battery power percentage; a battery charge control feature controls battery charging to stay within a set range of state of charge values to ensure longer battery life; a ribbon cartridge insertion feature allows for easy replacement of the ribbon cartridge; ribbon cartridge locating features lock the ribbon cartridge into place for printing; a ribbon guiding feature adjusts the ribbon during printing to reduce wrinkles; an RFID coupler mounting feature mounts and shields an RFID coupler inside the printer; a media guide locking feature fixes the media position to prevent misalignment; and a media alignment feature allows the user to properly align the media with the printhead during installation.

Abstract: A cross-flow filtration apparatus is provided. The cross-flow filter is a spiral wound filter that includes a semi-permeable membrane wrapped around a perforated central tube. The semi-permeable membrane includes a feed spacer and a membrane. The feed spacer is a biocidal feed spacer with a biocidal agent impregnated within the feed spacer to prevent biofouling of the feed spacer and the membrane.

Abstract: A musical instrument support strap is integrated with a tuning sensor having of a body configured at one end for attachment to the musical instrument. The body carries the pitch of a musical note struck on the musical instrument and is detected by a pickup. A printed circuit board converts the detected pitch for display on a liquid crystal display module, preferably having a needle indicator and a color indicator. The sensor may be provided independently for attachment to an existing strap. The method of using the strap for tuning a musical instrument includes attaching the musical instrument support strap to a musical instrument; striking a note on the musical instrument; reading the measurement of the frequency of vibration on the liquid crystal display module; and, adjusting the musical instrument to change the frequency of vibration.
