Abstract: A system and method for the optimization of the delivery of hospital services includes a collection engine collecting a plurality of hospital event data, a clinical engine, and one or more rules for processing the hospital event data. The clinical engine monitors the hospital event data for one or more repeated occurrences and applies the rules to the hospital event data. If the hospital event data satisfies one or more of the rules as determined by the clinical engine, the clinical engine generates one or more recommendations where the recommendations regard altering the hospital services. The system and method may further include a clinical editor displaying within a user interface of one or more terminals the hospital event data, an indicator, and the recommendations. The system and method allows for the hospital services to be altered in accordance with the hospital event data describing actual events in the hospital.
