Abstract: A healthcare communication system for providing status updates of patients is provided. The system receives information about a patient who will undergo a medical procedure at a healthcare facility and information about family and friends of the patient. The patient invites the family and friends to receive status updates about the patient and the medical procedure. Healthcare providers use a patient tracking board user interface to indicate a change in a stage of the patient through the medical procedure. The system generates status updates based on the changes in stages of the patient and provides the status updates, as well as opportunities to offer support, to the family and friends. For instance, the system generates a patient progress bar user interface, secure group messaging, gift giving, and a clinical news feed interface including the status updates for presentation on client devices of the family and friends.
