  • Publication number: 20080075065
Abstract: Systems and methods for a wireless VoIP headset. A wireless VoIP headset including a speaker, microphone, controller for processing a digital audio signal to generate IP packets, and an IEEE 802.11 transceiver. The wireless VoIP headset includes a computer readable memory storing instructions that when executed by the controller cause the wireless VoIP headset to perform a method for originating a call. The method includes receiving a spoken name or number from a user at the microphone, interpreting the spoken name or number using embedded or server based voice recognition, comparing the spoken name or number to a directory stored in the computer readable memory, and generating a call origination request message. The directory may also be stored on an adjunct computing device.

  • Patent number: 5678202
Abstract: An antenna system and method for use in a portable unit of a wireless telephone headset, wireless telephone headset adapter, or other telecommunication device combines a capacitive coupling antenna with an electric field sensitive antenna. The electric field sensitive antenna, such as a monopole antenna, receives and transmits RF signals when the portable unit is located remote from the user. A patch antenna receives and transmits RF signals when the portable unit is located proximate to, for example is worn by, the user. The patch antenna is a conductive surface for capacitively coupling to a user's body which acts as a radiating and receiving medium. Both the patch antenna and monopole antenna are coupled to an antenna port by matching circuits to tune each antenna for desired RF characteristics. When worn by the user, the RF effects of the monopole antenna are negligible and the patch antenna operates as the primary antenna.

  • Patent number: 5376774
Abstract: Solenoid coils are provided that produce relatively low irradiation of electromagnetic fields with intense fields internally thereof for purposes of heating a metallic element, preferably a ferromagnetic element having a Curie temperature selected for the purpose for which the coil structure is to be employed, the coil structure in one embodiment comprising two coaxial coils of substantially equal diameter interconnected to produce in response to an alternating current being applied thereto out of phase magnetic fields that do not substantially interfere with one another as a result of the spacing between the coils. In a second embodiment the two coils are located between two additional coils that buck axial fields thereby together with fall off of the fields as the cube of the distance from the main coils provide a structure with low external radiation.
