    Abstract: A motor vehicle power steering mechanism with an electric motor for steering assist and/or steering, and a steering controller, which controls the electric motor with a position control mode for autonomous driving and/or automatic steering and a torque control mode for manual steering by a driver. The steering controller includes a steering column reference controller, an arbitration unit, a column torque controller, a steering algorithm, and the steering system. The steering column reference controller calculates for position control based on a reference position and a measured position, and a first reference steering column torque. A steering algorithm calculates for torque control based on a measured column torque and a second reference steering column torque. The arbitration unit weights and adds the first and second reference steering column torques, and the output of the arbitration unit is input to the column torque controller.

    Abstract: A disclosed method can control an electric motor for an electromechanical power steering mechanism for assisting steering for a motor vehicle. The electromechanical power steering mechanism may include a steering column with an upper steering shaft linked to a lower steering shaft by a torsion bar. A torsion angle between the upper steering shaft and the lower steering shaft is configured to be measured or estimated, and an electric motor is configured to apply an assistance torque. The method may involve calculating a desired rotor position with an assist algorithm based on the torsion angle and calculating a PWM pattern by a PWM control unit such that the calculated PWM pattern adjusts a rotor of an electric motor angle such that the torsion angle is decreased.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an automated product inventory management system, based on multimodal sensor operation, in particular an automated supervisor system and method to handle the inventory of product items, where products are tracked individually from the moment of entry into the inventory. Categorization is executed from the time the product enters the inventory, and during its residence therein by automated identification processes. The position of the product items in the inventory is detected automatically, and used to identify the product item. When the product item is removed from the inventory, its previous resting position will be the basis of a lookup for its individual record and the product category information.
