  • Patent number: 9102716
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a peptide consisting of 5 to 30 amino acid residues comprising an amino acid sequence selected from LLADTTHHRPWT (SEQ ID NO: 1), SPGLSLVSHMQT (SEQ ID NO: 2), and the sequences presenting at least 80% identity with SEQ ID NO: 1 or SEQ ID NO: 2, for the functionalization of silicon substrate. The present invention also relates to the specific peptides as such, and to silicon substrates functionalized by the adsorption on their surface of such specific peptides. Finally, the present invention is also directed to a process for the preparation of such functionalized silicon substrates, and to articles comprising a silicon substrate according to the invention.

  • Publication number: 20060216494
Abstract: The present invention provides inorganic-organic nanocomposite coatings for implant materials and methods for the production thereof. The coatings consist of a sequentially adsorbed polyelectrolyte film (SAPF) intergrown with calcium phosphate crystals. The substrate is selected from glass, polymer, metal or metal alloys. The SAPFs consist of successions of positively and negatively charged monolayers, comprising biocompatible polyelectrolytes, preferably polyaminoacids. The calcium phosphate crystals may comprise octacalcium phosphate, calcium deficient apatites, carbonate apatites, hydroxyapatite, or mixtures thereof, with particle sizes 50 nm to 2 ?m. The inorganic phase is grown “in situ” within the polyelectrolyte organic matrix.
