  • Publication number: 20130340411
Abstract: A pump component is removed from a port of a suction-side fluid cavity of a high-pressure fluid pump. The pump component performs a pump function for the high-pressure fluid pump. A primary coupler connects to the port. The pump component connects to the primary coupler. A diverter fluid passage diverts a low-pressure fluid from the primary coupler to an auxiliary fluid delivery system. The primary coupler communicates the low-pressure fluid through the pump component and primary coupler to the port.

  • Publication number: 20130220914
Abstract: A spin-on fluid filter with improved attachment and sealing with the filter head. The filter has a gasket positioned at the end of threads used to connect the filter to a filter head. The described design protects the gasket from excessive engine heat, cut or tear damage during installation, and the roll out effect of installation torque. In addition, the described attachment provides gasket protection and uniform compression of the gasket. The gasket can be any type that provides a seal which keeps external threads on the filter and the filter head dry.

  • Publication number: 20130220900
Abstract: A filter, and a system, such as an engine, that uses the filter are described. A wireless tag, such as an IEEE 1902.1 wireless tag, that communicates using long wave magnetic waves is mounted on the filter head or on the filter. The wireless tag is used to communicate data such as filter identifier and status to a data acquisition system. Further, the data acquisition system can interface to an engine control module or other controller to allow specific control action or diagnostics/fault reporting.

  • Publication number: 20130199983
Abstract: An oil filter that includes an additive vessel to introduce additive material into oil flowing through the filter. The additive material includes an over-based detergent and optionally one or more of: a weak base additive, an anti-oxidant additive, an anti-wear additive, a friction modifier additive, a dispersant additive, an anti-foam additive, a nano-additive, a corrosion inhibitor additive, a pour point depressant additive and a surfactant additive.

  • Publication number: 20130180223
Abstract: A filter element has a reinforcement band or ring along at least a portion of the perimeter thereof and performing a support function thereat preventing or minimizing damage upon attempted percussive cleaning of the filter element by service personnel striking the perimeter against an impact surface. Alternatively, a failure band or ring is provided along at least a portion of the perimeter and performs a designated failure function to a failure condition thereat upon attempted percussive cleaning, with the failure condition providing at least one of: a) an indication to service personnel that the filter element has been damaged and should not be re-installed; and b) a deformed condition preventing re-installation.

  • Publication number: 20130157834
Abstract: A hybrid metal/composite centrifuge is described which can be designed and manufactured for large sizes which have traditionally been of metal construction only. The hybrid metal/composite centrifuge combines an “all composite”, fully disposable, centrifuge rotor with a reusable metal center tube which retains the rotor bearings. This design combines a fully disposable composite rotor, for example made of an incinerable plastic material, with a removable and reusable metal centertube.

  • Publication number: 20130153487
Abstract: A fuel water separator (FWS) filter that is configured to permit water to be drained from the water sump of the FWS filter without shutting off fuel flow to the FWS filter. A check valve is positioned between the water sump and the filter element. When the FWS filter is under vacuum (e.g. as in operation), the check valve can be closed to allow water to drain from the sump. The check valve can close automatically by floating on accumulated water in the sump until the water rises to a level where the check valve is closed. The check valve can also close by opening the drain valve of the FWS filter, which causes a differential pressure between the sump and the vacuum created in the filter element chamber, which forces the check valve to close.

  • Publication number: 20130056407
Abstract: A rotating separator has a housing preventing separated liquid carryover. A plenum between the annular rotating separating filter element and the housing sidewall has one or more flow path separating guides minimizing the flow of separated liquid to the outlet. The flow path guides may include one or more fins and/or swirl flow dampers and/or a configured surface.
