  • Patent number: 5692360
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus, automated system and method for packaging food products. The system has a novel arrangement for transferring the product from a receiving station to a bagging station which arrangement includes mechanical devices for pulling a bag over the product. The system further includes a unique platen system for transporting the bagged product to various stations where it is vacuumized, sealed, trimmed, and finished. Optionally, the system includes a plurality of needles for injecting a fluid such as a basting fluid into the product.

  • Patent number: 5390772
Abstract: A high speed frog including a ductile iron main pan casting having an integral straight approach runner, an integral straight exit runner, and an integral exit turnout runner, a movable runner having a pair of guide rails, an electric solenoid for rotating the movable runner so that one of said pair of guide rails is cooperatively associated with the stationary runner, diverts a sliding contact shoe to the turn-out runner, a mechanical deflector engageable for resetting the movable runner so that the other of the pair of guide rails engages the integral straight approach runner, and a renewable runner insert disposed between integral straight approach runner and the respective guide rails of the movable runner.

  • Patent number: 5241819
Abstract: A tappet valve arrangement for a railway car coupler having a main valve for supplying air pressure from one railway car to another coupled railway car. A piston and cylinder valve for supplying air pressure to a coupler centering device when the railway is in an uncoupled state and for interrupting the flow of air to the coupler centering device when the railway car is in a coupled state. A negating spool valve for overriding the flow of air to the coupler centering device when the railway car is in an uncoupled state. A shut-off valve for interrupting the supply of air from one railway car to another railway car when it is desired to uncouple the railway cars.

  • Patent number: 5152410
Abstract: An automatic car coupler control system for a railway train consisting of at least one powered car and at least two nonpowered cars. An electrical switch and a timer carried by the nonpowered car following the powered car is connected to a voltage source located on the powered car. An electrical switch and a timer carried by a subsequent nonpowered car is connected through the electrical switch of the nonpowered car following the powered car. The timers of each of the nonpowered cars is connected to a plurality of electromagnetic valves which pneumatically actuate the head pistons of the couplers when the nonpowered cars meet and which initially pneumatically actuate the head pistons and the head unlocks of the coupler and which subsequently pneumatically activate a latch cylinder on the coupler on the nonpowered car following the powered car when the nonpower cars are uncoupled by actuating the electrical switch on the nonpowered car following the powered car.

  • Patent number: 5076401
Abstract: A spring-applied, hydraulic pressure released brake actuator having a modular slack adjuster assembly in which a friction ring is arranged to limit axial movement of a nut member to which a brake shoe is connected, thereby establishing a predetermined brake shoe clearance with a vehicle wheel or brake disc. A spindle that is threadedly engaged with the nut member is connected to the actuator piston by means of a cone clutch that is disengaged during a brake release in the event the return stroke of the piston exceeds the predetermined brake shoe clearance due to brake shoe wear during the preceding brake application. This disengagement of the clutch causes the spindle to be rotated relative to the nut member under the influence of a slack adjuster spring in order to compensate the piston overtravel.
