  • Patent number: 6251144
Abstract: During the desizing and enzymatic stonewashing of denim fabric and/or garments, redeposition of blue color often occurs back onto the surfaces of the denim. The invention relates to a redepositing or backstain inhibiting composition and a method requiring the inclusion of an added protease prior to, during or subsequent to the stonewashing process which reduces the redeposition of the blue dye and hence improves the stonewashing process when using redepositing or backstaining cellulases to give an appearance closer to that when using stones alone or nonredepositing cellulases in the stonewashing process.

  • Patent number: 5324649
Abstract: A granular enzyme composition is produced, having reduced tendencies to form dust and leave residue, and exhibiting improved stability and delayed release characteristics. The granular composition comprises a core, an enzyme layer and an outer coating layer. The enzyme layer, and optionally the core and outer coating layer, contain a vinyl polymer. The vinyl polymer is preferably a hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol or copolymer thereof. The hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol has varying degrees of hydrolysis in the core, enzyme layer and outer coating layer. Also disclosed are methods for making such enzyme-containing granules, the methods having greatly reduced processing time.

  • Patent number: 4806665
Abstract: A method for producing a silica sol containing less than 200 ppm sodium having an average particle size of 2-110 nm, and a particle size distribution with a coefficient dispersion of 0.16-0.4. The silica sols are produced using a lower alkanolamine containing heal to which aliquots of silicic acid are added. The aliquots are added to maintain a substantially constant concentration of colloidal silica in the product. Subsequent to production, the sol may be concentrated by ultrafiltration.Preparation of low sodium silica sol utilizing a constant silica technique by heating the initial heel to 94.degree..+-.4.degree. C. and adding additional silica maintaining constant total silica. The stabilization is effected with an alkanolamine.
