Abstract: A cycle carrier that includes a gripping device (6) which engages with and fixedly retains a portion of a cycle. Further, the cycle carrier includes an operating device (7) with which the gripping device (6) is maneuvered between its closed and its open position. The gripping device (6) is openable against a spring pretensioning which, when it is released, transfers the gripping device (6) to an abutment position against the cycle. The abutment position is determined by the thickness of the fixedly held portion of the cycle. The operating device (7) includes means (15) for transferring the gripping device (6) to a clamping position. In the clamping position, the gripped portion of the cycle is fixedly clamped in the gripping device (6).

Abstract: An apparatus for carrying a bicycle on a vehicle roof comprises two load carrying struts (4, 5) secured on the vehicle roof and each having an anchorage (6) for fixedly securing legs (8) on a yoke (8, 10). The yoke (8, 10) has, on its horizontal portion (10), anchorages (3, 15) for fixedly retaining the bicycle. The yoke (8, 10) is, via joints (9), pivotal about an axis in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle between an upstanding transport position above the vehicle and a laterally outwardly pivoted loading and unloading position in which the anchorages (3, 15) are located laterally outside the side of the vehicle and flush with the load carrying struts (4, 5). At least the one anchorage (6) on the load carrying struts (4, 5) is provided with a spring (12) which facilitates upward pivoting of the yoke (8, 10) to the transport position.

Abstract: A bicycle carrier for fixedly retaining a bicycle on a vehicle roof (1) comprises a carrier device fastened to the vehicle roof and having a longitudinally extending support member for the wheels of the bicycle and an upwardly extending arm with a gripping device (8) for gripping a frame tube of the bicycle. The gripping device has two clamping jaws pivotable towards and away from one another and interconnected via a cog arrangement. One of the clamping jaws is connected to a draw bar having its lower and connected to an operating member at the lower end of arm.

Abstract: A cycle bracket for transport of a cycle on a vehicle roof is provided with an anchorage strut secured to the vehicle roof and provided with two clamps which are adjustable to one another and which, by means of gripping members manufactured of a semi-rigid material, grasp about a frame tube in the cycle. The form of the gripping members is adjustable to the frame tube. In order to achieve simple and reliable adaptation of the gripping members, these include a jaw which is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the clamp and which, together with an abutment fixedly disposed at the free end of the clamp, defines an accommodation space variable in both size and shape for the frame tube. Furthermore, the abutment portion is of one-piece manufacture with a flexible form-adapting member which is located between concave surfaces on the jaw and the frame tube.

Abstract: A holder device for fixedly securing a load (4, 5), for example a bicycle, on a vehicle roof is provided with a support channel (1) in which the wheel (4) of the cycle rests. The holder device is further provided with a retaining stirrup (6, 7) pivotal to an operative position for engagement with the frame tube (5) of the cycle. The retaining stirrup is connected by the intermediary of joints (8) to the support channel (1), which is, in its turn, secured with a releasable, U-shaped yoke (10) in the region of the connection between the retaining stirrup (6, 7) and the support channel (1), on a strut (3) disposed transversely across the vehicle roof.
