  • Publication number: 20060275586
Abstract: The present invention thus provides a fabric-laminated plastic part and a novel process where the fabric edges are covered with a second plastic component that adheres both to the fabric and to the first plastic material. A first plastic substrate component is prepared with an adhered fabric surface area and then the edges of the fabric are overlapped by a second molded-on, plastic edge-covering component. The second material covers the fabric edge to provide an aesthetically pleasing surface. This construction produces a more durable fabric edge covering and eliminates the tendency of the fabric to peel off the molded part during use.

  • Patent number: 6363263
Abstract: A system and method for providing a particular wireless communication signal appearing within an antenna beam to a cellular base station to the exclusion of other communication signals also appearing within the antenna beam is disclosed. Preferably multiple narrow antenna beams are utilized to target a communication unit sourcing the particular communication signal. Signals provided by these multiple narrow beams are filtered to exclude undesired communication signals appearing therein and then are provided to select inputs of the cellular base station. Preferably the system of the disclosed invention is adapted to substantially universally couple to various cellular base station configurations.

  • Patent number: 6236849
Abstract: A system and method for accurately determining the position of a mobile unit operating within a predefined service area is disclosed. Three embodiments of the present invention are disclosed which teach the use of one, two and three narrow beam base transceiver stations in the determination of a mobile unit's position. Where one base station is utilized, an information map of signal attributes is used in the position determination. Where two and three base stations are used, signal strength measurements in combination with the time difference of arrival of a signal at the various base stations are used in the position determination.

  • Patent number: 6072788
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for independently adjusting the forward channel power level of each time division burst period of a frame of a time divided signal. The disclosed invention teaches the splitting of the time divided signal for provision to independently controllable circuits associated with each burst period of the frame. Each independently controllable circuit includes a controllable attenuator/amplifier and switching device. The attenuator/amplifier is operated to adjust the power level of its associated burst period to a predetermined magnitude. Thereafter, the switching device operates to direct each power adjusted burst period to be transmitted within a predetermined beam of a multi-beam antenna array.

  • Patent number: 4868158
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the preparation of a carrier loaded with lipophilic biologically active substance based on reconstituted LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein), wherein (1) LDL is lyophilized in the presence of a protective agent; (2) the lyophilized LDL is extracted with an organic solvent; (3) the biologically active substance solubilized in a solvent is incubated with extracted LDL; the solvent is evaporated and the reconstituted LDL solubilized in an aqueous buffer; the non-incorporated biologically active substance is separated from the LDL-complex, characterized in that in step (1) the protective agent is a monosaccharide, a disaccharide, a water-soluble polysaccharide, a sugar alcohol or a mixture of these and in step (3) optionally the extract obtained during the extraction of the lyophilized LDL is mixed with the lipophilic biologically active substance solubilized in an organic solvent and this mixture is then incubated with the LDL.
