    Abstract: A closable band includes a strap and a clasp. The strap is made of a material having a substantial coefficient of static friction when its ends overlap and contact each other. The clasp is formed with a base portion and an upper portion which are connected by a hinge. A latch secures the free edges of the base portion and the upper portion together. When the band is assembled by overlapping the ends of the strap and securing the clasp around the overlapped ends of the strap, the base portion and the upper portion provide a clamping force on the overlapped ends.
