Abstract: A window well assembly for providing natural light to an interior of a dwelling comprising a light-refracting block, a flange, an outer gasket, an internal gasket, a reinforcing band, and a fastener. The window well assembly is installed into a wall in the dwelling where the light-refracting block externally protrudes from the wall for natural light refraction into the interior of the dwelling. The light-refracting block comprises a block body that presents an external receiving side, an external transmitting side, an upper wall-interfacing side, a lower wall-interfacing side, and an internal emergent side. Natural light enters the external receiving side or external transmitting side and refracts through the block body until emitted through the internal emergent side.

Abstract: A sump pump assembly with a basin, a first shelf fixedly position in a lower end of the basin, a lid for securing to an upper end of the basin, the lid having a transparent window for viewing a water level in the basin, a light mounted within the basin for assisting in viewing the water level, a first pump positioned on a floor of the basin, a second pump positioned on the first shelf, and an alarm for notifying a building owner when the first pump ceases to operate but prior to operation of the second pump. Alternative embodiments comprise a battery-powered third pump, a battery for powering the third pump, and a mount for mounting the battery inside the basin.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for diverting water away from a building's foundation using improved splash blocks. A starting splash block is positioned proximate a building's foundation and under the building's water discharge line. A running splash block is positioned end-to-end with the starting splash block. A coupling assembly couples the front end of the starting splash block to the rear end of the at least one running splash block in the end-to-end configuration. The coupling assembly and configuration of the starting and running splash blocks allows for the running splash block to pivot with respect to the immediately preceding splash block in line. Upwardly extending projections are also provided on a bottom of the splash blocks to facilitate a reduction in velocity of the water transported through the splash blocks.

Abstract: An ice blocking apparatus for preventing ice blockage of a sump pump discharge line. The apparatus is mounted to an external wall of a building and includes a housing having lower and upper openings, a discharge line connection segment fluidly coupled with the sump pump discharge line, an expeller segment including lower and upper pipe segments fluidly coupled with discharge segment, and first and second doors pivotably mounted to the housing and covering the lower and upper openings of the housing. The lower pipe segment is fluidly coupled with the lower opening in the housing, and the upper pipe segment is fluidly coupled with the upper opening in the housing. When ice is not blocking the lower opening of the housing, fluid from a sump pump flows through the lower opening, and when ice is blocking the lower opening, fluid flows through the upper opening of the housing.

A vertical water guide extends perpendicularly from the track and is positioned adjacent the interior face of the basement wall. The guide includes a plurality of spaced projections for directing water trickling down along the wall to the channel.
