Publication number: 20240192823Abstract: The disclosed subject matter provides a computing system configured to present a map-centric interface to a user, the map-centric interface usable by the user to control selected ones of a plurality of digital signs. The computing system is further configured to receive via a network interface travel data indicative of availability of travel resources, data corresponding to emergency events, and instructions from a third-party entity regarding the emergency events. The computing system is further configured to connect to a particular digital sign of the selected ones and display information corresponding to the received travel data associated with a geographic region in which the digital sign is located. In addition, the computing system is configured to display on one or more of the plurality of digital signs emergency event messages based on the data corresponding to emergency events.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2023Publication date: June 13, 2024Inventors: Curtis E. Patent number: 11886677Abstract: The disclosed subject matter provides a digital sign with a video camera. The digital sign and video camera are connected via a communications medium to a central computer. The central computer provides a way of changing the images displayed on the digital sign and of disseminating the video from the video camera either through real time forwarding/viewing or recording the real time video stream and playing back the recorded video to a user. The central computer also provides a user interface where an authorized user, which would normally include an authorized governmental entity, can view the video stream and unilaterally interrupt the normally displayed image (or series of images) with an emergency notification message that would display on the digital sign.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2021Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: Texas Emergency Network, LLCInventors: Curtis E. Ford, Drew Cartwright

Publication number: 20210352438Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to disseminating location-specific emergency messages to various user devices or digital signs. In some embodiments, a computer system, such as an emergency management system, may obtain location-specific resource data that indicates a status of one or more resources in a geographic area. The computer system may provide a map-centric interface that is operable to display the status of the one or more resources in the geographic area. For example, in some embodiments, the map-centric interface includes a graphical map that depicts icons for the one or more resources at respective locations on the graphical map. The computer system may then receive, via the map-centric interface, a selection of a particular geographic area for which to send a location-specific message. Based on this selection, the computer system may identify and send a location-specific message to one or more mobile devices currently located in that particular geographic area.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2020Publication date: November 11, 2021Inventors: Curtis E. Ford, Katheryn Huynh, Annie Atkinson, Maggie Welch
