  • Patent number: 5097213
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically testing multipin connectors is disclosed. A carrier frame contains connector cells of different configurations. Multiple groups of pins of the connector are connected together and to a source of high voltage. The resulting leakage current between energized pins and a remaining unenergized pin may be measured and compared with various stored test parameters. When the on-board computer detects a current which does not meet the stored test parameters, an error message is posted and displayed and also passed to a host computer connected to the on-board computer for storage and display.

  • Patent number: 4716588
Abstract: A multimode scrambling system for video signal transmission systems is described. The system provides for baseband video scrambling controlled by a central originating computer facility. The scrambling of each field of a video changes on a per field basis. The video signal is scrambled in several modes including vertical interval scrambling, alternate line inversion, bogus sync pulse generation, video compression and video offset techniques. A scrambling sequence is sent by a unique algorithm, sent during the vertical interval to each system decoder. The algorithm is reordered for each of a plurality of fields of the video signal and the reordering position is identified by a unique synchronization pulse transmitted during the vertical interval of the video signal. Additional security measures are provided to inhibit a subscriber from avoiding a transmitted disable command, or an attempt to invade the subscriber decoder mechanical packaging security.

  • Patent number: 4043195
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for measuring instantaneous rate of flow and total flow of a fluid. The data are obtained by measuring the quantity of energy necessary to replace an equivalent amount of heat dissipated from a temperature-sensitive transducer disposed in the path of the fluid flow. An error signal, resulting from a transducer impedence change due to a differential temperature, induced by fluid flow, is placed in digital form and fed back to the transducer in a closed feedback loop configuration. The feedback signal is in the form of discrete power pluses. The number of such pulses is proportional to the heat removed from the transducer by the flow and thus is proportional to the fluid flow rate. The output pulses are counted and displayed in associated digital equipment.
