  • Patent number: 4689354
Abstract: White graft polymer dispersions in polyoxyalkylene polyether polyols are employed together with flame retardant compounds to prepare flame retardant polyurethane foams. The polymer dispersions employ less than 0.1 mole of induced unsaturation per mole of polyol mixture. Improved processes for the preparation of these polymer dispersions employ either maleate or fumarate derived polyetherester polyols or polyetherester polyols prepared by reacting a polyoxyalkylene polyether polyol in the presence of a chain transfer agent with a compound selected from the group consisting of maleic acid, maleic anhydride and fumaric acid and an alkyklene oxide in the presence of salts and oxides of divalent metals.

Inventors: Gerhard G. Ramlow, Duane A. Heyman, Oscar M. Grace, Curtis J. Reichel, Robert J. Hartman
  • Patent number: 4637893
Abstract: A delayed co-initiation process for preparing polyol blends comprising(a) oxyalkylating a first initiator compound to obtain a polyol with a predetermined equivalent weight; and(b) adding a second initiator which may be the same as or different from the first and oxyalkylating to obtain a polyol with a predetermined equivalent weight based upon the second initiator. The resultant polyols are used in the preparation of polyurethane foams.

  • Patent number: 4535178
Abstract: Polyether-ester polyols are prepared by reacting a polyether polyol, tetrahydrophthalic anhydride and an alkylene oxide in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of calcium naphthenate and cobalt naphthenate. These polyols may be used in preparing polyurethane products.

  • Patent number: 4487853
Abstract: A polyether-ester polyol containing a high primary hydroxyl content is prepared employing low amounts of ethylene oxide. The polyurethane foams prepared from these products display improved physical properties with good air flow.

  • Patent number: 4482651
Abstract: Haloalkoxymethylmelamine adduct is prepared by reacting hexamethoxymethylmelamine with a halogenated alcohol. Dispersions of this adduct in a polyol produce a polyurethane product which displays improved flame retardancy.

  • Patent number: 4454255
Abstract: White graft polymer dispersions in polyoxyalkylene polyether polyols are employed together with flame retardant compounds to prepare flame retardant polyurethane foams. The polymer dispersions employ less than 0.1 mole of induced unsaturation per mole of polyol mixture. Improved processes for the reparation of these polymer dispersions employ either isomerized maleate containing polyetherester polyols or polyetherester polyols prepared by reacting a polyoxyalkylene polyether polyol, a polycarboxylic acid anhydride and an alkylene oxide in the presence of salts and oxides of divalent metals.
