An identity based user interface may display user interface elements including communication-related information for a plurality of identities. The communication related information may indicate multiple communication mechanisms for each identity. In response to selection of one of the communication mechanisms, an identity based user interface may initiate communication with the corresponding identity using the selected mechanism. An identity based user interface may also display information regarding the presence, reach-ability or future availability for one or more of the identities and may request and receive such information from an identity framework. An identity based user interface may utilize shared identity objects to store and maintain the communication related information.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system and a method for presenting a set of icons in a display so that the icons can be selected by a user via a keypad. During operation, the display presents a set of icons to the user. The user can then select an icon from the set of icons by entering input into the keypad. The set of icons are presented in the display such that the spatial layout of the set of icons is substantially the same as the layout of the keypad, resulting in an intuitive interface that allows the user to select desired choices quickly and easily.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates displaying multiple two-dimensional (2D) windows with related content within a three-dimensional (3D) display model. The system starts by receiving a command to display a first window within the 3D display model. In response to the command, the system displays the content of the first window on a first surface of a 3D object. Next, the system receives a command to display a second window within the 3D display model, wherein content of the second window is related to content of the first window. The system then displays content of the second window on a second surface of the 3D object.
